I won't lie - I'm a little in love with Kathleen Edwards... may try to get out and see her tomorrow night at The Troubador...
Hell, I've been married for almost 15 years and I'll agree with you. She's got a spark to her, and she obviously enjoys playing live. She put on a great show, played a lot of stuff off the new album. Highly recommend going, especially the troub. That's a tiny place from what I remember, only holds about 300 people.
Wouldn't be suprised if Marty McSorley shows up there, she said that they were playing on Leno tomorrow night, and she was trying to get McSorley to play tambourine. If you do go, request 'Summer of 69'. They were talking about Bryan Adams at the SD show, and launched into a impromptu (and ragged) version of Summer of '69. Bet she'd get a kick if someone requested it in L.A.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.
"Unfortunately, the Sun Jun 29 show in Edmonton, ALB at the STARLITE has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict. More show dates are on the way."
booooooo we were planning on hitting that show... calgary's show is a festival so we figured they'd get a shorter set here.... oh well maybe the date they are doing instead is a full show in calgary! wishful thinking...
Damn...that's the way to come out of the chute rockin'.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
Of DBT albums, which two should I purchase as a new listener? Or, better yet, what would be your greatest hits from them(say 15-20 songs)? Thanks
they haven't made a bad album but i recommend starting with decoration day. for songs, try: the opening act, let there be rock, zip city, danko/manuel, nine bullets, decoration day, gravity's gone, heathens, outfit, a world of hurt, tornadoes, carl perkins' cadillac, panties in your purse, goddamn lonely love, the company i keep, shut up and get on the plane, sink hole, cottonseed, the boys from alabama... it's hard to stop. i left out at least 20 songs that shouldn't be left out. and that list only includes hood, cooley and isbell's songs.

You should actually buy three:
1. Southern Rock Opera
2. Decoration Day
3. The Dirty South
Then buy Brighter Than Creation's Dark, then buy Isbell's solo album, Sirens of the Ditch, then buy A Blessing and a Curse (not in the same league as the others, but good), then start seeing DBT shows and have your mind BLOWN, then move to Alabama and be happy!

Ronnie and Neil
Let There Be Rock

I'd also add Living Bubba, Steve McQueen, Opening Act, Self-Destructive Zones, Righteous Path, and a bunch of others to the list.

Awesome, thanks for the advice. I'll buy Southern Rock Opera to start and go from there.
Get ready for a history/cultural lesson.

they are playing Amigos in Saskatoon... wow is all i can say.. thats a tiny little bar by where i used to live. I really should try and make that show... looks like the calgary sled island show will only be an hour set
Thumbs down on switching before they were done. I know they have to cater to other bands, but that was a tease.

"We paced ourselves and we didn't rush through it and we tried to be as creative as our collective minds would let us be over some course of time instead of just trying to rush through a record"
I would rather them show an entire set than switch back and forth...especially when Cooley was about to fire into Guitar Man Upstairs...that's just cruel.

"Scared at Night" is like the siren's song for me right now... great song... great version of it on Youtube right now...
She played a great solo version of it, if that helps tip you over the edge!
So yes, you need to go to Kathleen Edwards and you need to head down to the belly-up for the DBT.

if that shit keeps up they're gonna force me to go to that mountainjam thing.
Sweet - RITFW!
I could see both sides of the argument, but the people making the arguments were just obnoxious... exactly what is wrong with internet forums...
Too bad - usually a very good board for a very good band...
