I'm going to the 5 shows starting tomorrow...

    Northampton
    Boston
    New Haven
    New York
    Philadelphia

I'm going by myself to Northampton, with a friend & a friend of his who are fans to Boston, with a coworker who has never seen them to New Haven, with 2 friends who have never seen them to NYC, and 2 friends who are fans to Philly.
Is anyone else on the board going to these shows? I'm really excited and plan to get there in time to check out The Whigs.

ashtrayrock - Yo La Tengo is one of the best bands to come out of the American indie scene of the 1980s. They are still going strong and their music is worth a listen.

Went to the New Haven show. One of the best concerts i've been to in quite a while!! The whigs did a great job opening up as well.

We ran into a bit of bad luck afterwords though....our parking garage was closed so i had to call my fiance to come pick me up  She was NOT happy haha. It was worth it though...great show!!!

i totally agree on huston. i was hoping it'd be a grower but it ain't. she mumbles. but i do kinda like home field advantage and purgatory line. i really think her best singing is on 2 daughters.

2 Daughters is an awesome opener, great track and Shonas backing is perfect.

That Des Moines date is part of the 80/35 music festival, in its first year, and also features Flaming Lips, the Roots, and Yonder Mountain, as well as some great local bands like Radio Moscow. I am planning on the greatest 4th of July weekend of my life...

Picked up my Solana Beach tix. Now I just have to wait for two months.

Found this quote over on Nine Bullets, part of a larger review of a Patterson solo show:

...Patterson then launched into a long story about how “in 1994, about the time O.J. Simpson was making his infamous drive in the Bronco, and River Phoenix had just died and Kurt Cobain had just blown his brains out, and Eddie Vedder was about to take over the world and maybe we’d be better off if he had…”,and “Clinton was in the White House and we didn’t know just how good we had it, although I’m not asking for him back…I sat down and wrote this song…” – Heavy and Hanging

Holy crap, I can't believe I was so late joining the DBT party! I just recently bought Brighter than creation's dark and I was blown away!

I haven't been able to stop listening to 'A Ghost to Most' for the last week, what an incredible song. There are so many other on there that get me going but for me that is just amazing.

Also, I just order the 40 Watt dvd and am stoked to be able to see them at Bonnaroo after having dowloaded a few bootlegs. I am definitely a fan now....better late than never i guess

Man, that is a good DVD. I've missed them live a few times around me here lately...can't wait until they swing by again.

You really need to see them outside of a festival, if you get the chance. Great, great, great band...both live and in the studio.

Yeah, I'm a stone's throw away from the Nashville area, but I'm not a festival person. I'd rather see them at the Cannery Ballroom or the New Daisey in Memphis.

I am by no means a festival guy either and always prefer a real show to a festival. I used to go to the Beale Street Fest every year, 6 or 7 years in a row, and it got to be such a pain in the ass it just wasn't worth it. Plus, the teeny boppers seemed to be taking over.
Memphis is my favorite place in the world though -- not that I've seen a whole hell of a lot of it -- and I wish I could afford to get up there every weekend for a show. I live about 45 minutes north of Jackson, MS

Merkin - how is the venue in Solana Beach? I may have to make the drive down...

The Belly-Up is a great, great place for a live show. Good beer, great atmosphere. My favorite place in SD for a show. Was just there last night for Kathleen Edwards and saw a bunch of DBT flyers around the venue. Stage is a few (2-3) feet off the ground, so you get a much better vibe then a HOB show where you are more removed from the band.

Bring earplugs, I remember the last time the DBT played there (Dirty South Tour) my ears were ringing for days afterwards.

I'm jealous, besides Bonnaroo it doesn't look like I'll be seeing these guys again anytime soon. The Toronto show rocked so hard I feel I gotta see these guys again - maybe next year?

I won't lie - I'm a little in love with Kathleen Edwards... may try to get out and see her tomorrow night at The Troubador...
