murdering oscar is really good, if anyone's been on the fence. much better than killers and stars. my first impression was that it sounds like his better blessing and a curse era stuff... little bonnie, goodbye, world of hurt.
Why yes it is a fine piece of work......ordered the vinyl package that comes with a digital dl, cd and vinyl....$24.99....the vinyl has three songs not on the regular cd issue. Really good stuff.....Patterson is indeed one of the better story-tellers of our generation.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

Agreed! I just downloaded "Murdering Oscar" last night, something I normally wouldn't do, but I didn't feel like waiting on Amazon to ship it. I'm late to the party as far as Drive By Truckers are concerned, but I'm glad I didn't miss out. Also ordered the Live CD/DVD too.

Patterson Hood's ability to tell a story that matches the emotion of the music is just amazing, as well as his voice.
If there were no Angels would there be no sin?

I need to check my old turntable and see if it works, maybe test some old 80's vinyl on it that I have stored away. Any recommendations for new turntables? Nothing crazy in price, just a good solid turntable. Just what I need, another addiction when it comes to music! ;)

The only turntable I have is a Technics job that I have had since 1983.

there's at least 5 new truckers songs up on archive.org. patterson's flying wallendas is amazing. shonna's even got a decent tune, don't know the title but it's the one that goes "some day it's gonna be i told you so." cooley's got 2, but neither of em really grabbed me. his cover of kiss' strutter makes up for it.

and why, on the fine print, is goode's field road list as alt-version but not the great car dealer war, when that's clearly been tampered with too?

*edit* just watched that doc and at the end of part 2, that 400 unit version of tva is absolutely better than the truckers version.

Holy shit...that's some emotional stuff man.

    Again, thanks for posting.

Yeah, it's pretty heavy. I can see why Patterson wants to retire it. Hopefully they keep playing 18 wheels though, even without the monologue.
Had the great opportunity to see 18 Wheels with the monologue at Bonnaroo '08 and it almost brought me to tears that glorious day. Really cool story..glad i got to see it before they retired it and glad it's on the ACL dvd..though the lack of cursing takes away from it a little bit :D
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
