Has anyone attended any shows on this tour? The last couple of nights' setlists look amazing. I can't wait until the Toronto show on Wednesday - I took off Thursday off work as well, and plan to drink my face off ; )0
-
I went to Milwaukee, St. Louis and Louisville...and plan on attending Chicago and maybe the DC shows on the next leg.
It's been exhausting, epic and exhilarating. I can't recall ever having such a great time following a band, other than Pearl Jam, of course."What happens when so many people agree on something? Can we take this beyond the parking lot when we leave tonight?" -EV, Iconoclasts0 -
I was worried about seeing this band without Jason in the fold. Jason just brought so much as a great singer songwriter geetarplayer, that's not to say that pat and um cooley aren't a++, but to not hear those Jason songs with the dbt was gonna hurt...
Opening up with Living Bubba followed by Ghost To Most pretty much was a perfect start for obvious reasons. The best old and the best new. Smart.
Other tunes played...Uncle Frank which cooley just rawked the f out on ,and um 2 daughters&wife, 3 dimes down, daddy needs a drink, opening act, crystal meth(which i didnt like on the cd but live it was incredible), the standard closers with zip city(fan request) for the opening encore song
I was hoping Shonna would sing home field advantage cause that song flat out rawks but instead we got houston, which was ok. Nice to see her take front stage. She's great.
There's other songs and moments i'm forgetting but um oh well
Oh yeah...a HUGE shout out to The Whigs for being bigger than I thought they'd be and living up to(and exceeding!) the hype. I bought their new cd and they played most of the songs off it...fantastic arrangements...great songs that don't all sound the same...I cant guess their age from where i was at but they looked really young...already young indeed. I felt sorry for the people who decided to show up late and miss them.
The show was 10tickets from being sold out was the last word i heard. I would have preferred a venue change cause a crowded opera house sucks but regardless its still one of the best venues that toronto has, when not sold out.
Overall rating 9/10...$20...can ya really go wrong???************************************************************************

The Whigs opened? That's awesome. I saw them open for Yo La Tengo and My Morning Jacket at SXSW last week and thought they were phenomenal - definitely held their own against those other two bands, which is saying something, IMO.
I wish Shonna would do Purgatory Line - haven't heard that one yet."What happens when so many people agree on something? Can we take this beyond the parking lot when we leave tonight?" -EV, Iconoclasts0 -
Haven't heard of Yo La Tengo so I can't comment there but holding their own against MMJ IS something, indeed
And exactly who was it that said there is "no new great rawk about"
Rawk ON !!!
Anyhoo so that's 2 fantastic bands for $20 and no matter what way ya slice it that is till the best deal EVA...
Arena rock has got nothing on this deal...it doesn't even come in a close second!************************************************************************

Nice review ashtrayrock. I got there early and caught the Whigs, and although I though they started slow (thought the drummer was a little sluggish the first few songs) they ended great.
DBT were amazing. Their songs just come alive when hearing them live. Like ashtrayrock mentioned - even though I do like Crystal Meth on the cd it was great to hear it live.
Some songs you missed. I had a bit to drink so I may be off:
In No order...
Perfect Timing
Self Destructive Zones
Checkout Time in Vegas
Goode's Field Road
Sink Hole
Hell No I Aint Happy
18 Whells of Love
Puttin' People on the Moon
Lookout Mountian
Buttholeville
Nine Bullets
Let There be Rock
Women w/o Wiskey
The Company I Keep
There's a few more I missed...0 -

I'm going to the 5 shows starting tomorrow...
Northampton
Boston
New Haven
New York
Philadelphia
I'm going by myself to Northampton, with a friend & a friend of his who are fans to Boston, with a coworker who has never seen them to New Haven, with 2 friends who have never seen them to NYC, and 2 friends who are fans to Philly.
Is anyone else on the board going to these shows? I'm really excited and plan to get there in time to check out The Whigs.
ashtrayrock - Yo La Tengo is one of the best bands to come out of the American indie scene of the 1980s. They are still going strong and their music is worth a listen. You see me empty, Sir, do not pause and inquire, simply assume and refill.

Went to the New Haven show. One of the best concerts i've been to in quite a while!! The whigs did a great job opening up as well.
We ran into a bit of bad luck afterwords though....our parking garage was closed so i had to call my fiance to come pick me up  She was NOT happy haha. It was worth it though...great show!!!"Everyone is a patriot in some form or another.... i prefer the intelligent ones."
