Springsteen to appear in Austin, March 15, 2012
South By Southwest has announced Bruce Springsteen as the keynote speaker for the 2012 SXSW Music and Media Conference and Festival. The keynote will take place on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Austin Convention Center, the hub of SXSW Music events.

The Bruce Springsteen keynote will be open to Music and Platinum registrants and registered showcasing artists. In the tradition of legendary artists delivering the main event at SXSW, Springsteen joins notable keynote alumni including Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Lucinda Williams, Robert Plant, Pete Townshend, Smokey Robinson, Bob Mould, and Neil Young.

Visit SXSW.com for further information on the annual festival, including registration, which is open now.

While there's no indication that Springsteen will actually perform at SXSW, the scheduling does lend some extra weight to the heavily rumored idea that his tour will begin March with dates in the U.S.

Awesome! Love this song. My favorite from the album and in my top 3 Springsteen songs. I hope to hear this live if I see him next year.

I hope to get a chance to see him live, I was little when he came to Argentina long time ago...

Have you checked that site? did you find out that you can buy the CD or the DVD separately? or the SDE? any of those for a very low price...

Probably February/March for album - at conference in Australia, Sony US executive said he's heard a mix of the new album and says it's fantastic.

I love the way Max's drums sound on the "Darkness On the Edge of Town" album. I watched "The Promise" and was amazed to see how much time they spent to just get the drums to sound right.

Think we'll be getting the US dates before or after Christmas?

Bruce Springsteen Finishing Up New Album
Sources: LP hitting shelves early next year, U.S. dates begin in spring

After two years of downtime, Bruce Springsteen is roaring back in 2012: According to multiple sources, he is putting the finishing touches on an album that he will release in the first months of the new year. "He's mastering it right now," says Bob Seger, who spoke with Springsteen backstage at Seger's New York show this month. "He's says it's really unusual and that it's the best thing that he's done in years."

To support the album, Springsteen and the E Street Band will embark on a world tour that will extend through most of 2012, starting with a two-month U.S. arena leg in early March, sources say – including a stop in Austin for the South by Southwest music festival, where Springsteen will deliver the keynote address. The U.S. dates will be followed by a European tour of festivals and soccer stadiums that kicks off May 13th in Spain.

The question that hangs over the tour: how Springsteen plans to fill the void left by saxophone player Clarence Clemons, the spiritual heart of the E Street Band, who passed away in June. At Clemons' funeral, Springsteen made it clear that the band would continue: "Clarence doesn't leave the E Street Band when he dies," Springsteen said. "He leaves when we die."

Almost every Prove It All Night from the Darkness tour in '78 is a gem. That was the only time the band played the extended intro before launching into the song proper. Some great versions are from Passaic, NYC (Palladium), and Cleveland (get the bootleg called Summertime Bruce)
