Great shout out in Seattle followed by dedication of The Who's "The Real Me" to The Boss. I've seen TRM live several times , between The Who and PJ , and the version I witnessed Tuesday was the best I've seen since I had the honor of watching The Who do it in Philly in 1973. A kick ass version that would've had the boss smiling ear to ear .... and joining in. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOSS !!! Looking forward to seeing him twice (10/14 and 10/15) at the Spectrum.

Currently in the midst of a lengthy North American run, Bruce Springsteen [ tickets ] and the E Street Band are expected to take at least a year or two off after performing 26 shows booked though Nov. 22.

I'm going on a "Born in the USA" night, but I wish I were going on a "Born to Run" night...Oh well. I guess this is their way of selling any remaining tickets, people will want to be there on a certain night to hear X played (apart from 10/9 the last night).

Bruce Springsteen to play full albums at Giants Stadium
    By Jay Lustig/The Star-Ledger
    September 28, 2009, 8:21PM

Bruce Springsteen has re-written the script for his upcoming concerts at Giants Stadium.

Each of the five shows he and his E Street Band will present will feature one of his classic albums with all the songs played, in order, as well as an assortment of material from other albums. The schedule is:

    Sept. 30: "Born to Run"
Oct. 2: "Darkness on the Edge of Town"
Oct. 3: "Born in the USA"
    Oct. 8: "Born to Run"
Oct. 9: "Born in the USA"

Springsteen first performed at Giants Stadium in 1985, as part of his "Born in the USA Tour." The Oct. 9 show will be his last concert there, as well as the last concert there, period. The stadium will be torn down to create parking space for a new stadium that is being built at the Meadowlands.

In Chicago, Bruce began with a varied set list, performed the album portion of the show in the middle of the concert, and continued the show through its grand finale. Said long time manager Jon Landau, "Chicago convinced us that this was really worth doing. The audience was so supportive of the concept that it convinced us to go ahead with this at Giants Stadium."

While Bruce and the band performed Born to Run and Darkness last year in Red Bank, the complete Born in the U.S.A. in sequence will be a concert first.

awww Metsy sorry you wanted thunder road.
You can still get tickets to tonight , to ensure youll hear THUNDER ROAD .
dont forget, not limited to hearing the entire B2R album,
( there will be plenty of other hits played every night - dont worry ) ,
( on the 9th?-- this is the very last show @ Giants- the one to be at my friend )
and dont forget Bruce will be playing more than just the BITUSA album.

Even tho the irony is too much here,
How brilliant of a move is this ?
Closing down the old ( big ) building
with the very songs he used to open it up almost 25 years ago .

    I was really wishing we'd get a " The River " setlist,
but pobably too much since twas a double album .

See you all tonight out in the swamps of Jersey ,...

    Raise Your Hand
    E Street Shuffle
    Growin' Up
    American Land
    Dancing in the Dark
    Hard Times
    Rosalita

wow- what a night. 30 songs and 3 + hours , in GS, as only Bruce can do it .
By do it , i mean rocking the hell out of this gigantic place, soon to be torn down and Bruce let us all know about it, right from the opening chords of The Wrecking Ball song .

The show had a slow pace at the beginning, i'd guess up until right around Atlantic City . Then it was all out rocking, even for the doubters and sitters-down .

Hungry Heart was a realy nice early surprise and a definite crowd pleaser, big sing alongs on this one .

Those 8 songs are enough to give anyone their fill of Bruce mainstays ( B2R ) , but hell we didnt even get to the Raise Your Hand sign requests yet ! :o

The 1 song i have grown to not really care for and if i had a choice of omitting 1 song, it would have to be Waitin' On A Sunny Day " , and with this one, my instincts definitely go against the popularity here, cuz the crowd loves this one everytime and they all get up and go crazy, even singing along .Its always cool when Bruce brings the kid onstage to sing this one, but really , i'm outta here another bathroom break song for me .

I loved hearing Into The Fire , inserted right in there amongst its album-mates The Rising & Lonesome Day . High emotions on this one ( anytime i hear it live ) tho much of the crowd took a seater on this one.

I love No Surrender - looking forward to seeing / hearing BITUSA in its entirety later this week,..., but this one always stands out. Eddie is also fond of this one. :)

The Raise Your Hand sign requests are still in effect, which i couldnt believe in the stadium setting, but alas Bruce gives his fans the opp to do this, its always entertaining and you know he will select a little gem for your listening and viewing pleasure. We were graced with E Street Shuffle which was absolutely fucking awesome ! And a very lengthy Growin ' Up , with a great rant from Bruce sitting at the Piano ,
telling about the absolute worst nightmare he'd recently had
    that he was home,
There he was stuck entertaining all of his relatives- a rather large group of people ( Bruce also mentioned that in general he doesnt like large groups of people ) but it was worse when he had to actaully entertain them .
Teh he went on about this gigantic cake, and there being 60 candles in it.
The crowd went on to sing Happy Birthday, but Bruce answed back that he was trying to forget that all,...
it was funny and everyone in the place was involved and smiling .

Closing off with Rosalita , 30 songs later and 3 hours in the hole, whats better than that?
cant wait for the Darkness show Friday night ( show 2 )

    other thoughts:

-- No sight of Patti- at a NJ show ? Thats a lttle starnge, i think.
oh well, Soozie filled in nicely as usual, .

-- The merchandise is CRAZY ! So so much and so so expen$ive ! I will go to Fanfire after the tour , it beats lugging all this stuff around. The cost for parking ( 25 bucks ) at Meadowlands is just criminal. Park is what you do, even when youre trying to get out, its a virtual parking lot, its horrendous.

-- First time i can remember fireworks and spotlights at the finale of the show .I guess in Stadiums, you can do that sort of thing. They even had cartoon lettering ( E--- Street--- Band ) on the screens. That blew me away.

Needless to say , I was all the way in the back and downstairs on night 1,

Here was my vantage point(s) :
You cannot see so good, other than the video feeds,
but you can surely get the feel of the music, the crowd and the show.
Here are a couple of teasers

Thunder Road * This is partial and gets cut off.

    Born To Run 1
    Born To Run 2
    Born To Run 3
    Born To Run 4

    A C

    Hungry Heart1
    Hungry Heart 2

cannot wait for tonight and another album side inserted into the set of masterpieces.
Tonight, its a rare Darkness On The Edge Of Town albumside,
    darkness.jpg

and again, any setlist containing only 2 or 3 of these are good, but the whole album? This is gonna be crazygood

why the F is he playing so much BITUSA in the set, when hes already designated 2 out of the 5 shows to that album? IMO he shouldnt be playing any duplicates of that album on a night designated to another album, but thats why he is The Boss

Hmm cool thanks. I didn't buy tix this tour as he's toured a lot these past yrs around me, but I'm thinking about it now. I'd be looking at hitting Detroit and should be able to get some GA tix or good sides the day of. I'm liking this designating a show to an album idea...was thinking it would work great for Detroit with low tix sales there now.

That means Thunder Road has been 3 out of 3 so far,
but only 1 night as a closer.

Some may say this decreases the chances of the songs being played again ( especially with only Born To Run and BITUSA remaining ) , but it looks like Bruce wont leave it out at any of the shows.

we'll see next week ,....4 and 5 coming up !
