Barely tour as is for a band, time to bring back Dave A

I wish the band came out with a reassuring message for us because I’m currently panicking.
If the band didn't have intentions of moving forward without him, these announcements this morning would have been very different; personally, that's all the reassurance I need that there's more to come.
They've clearly known that this was coming... the indefinite break after this spring's tour never made sense to me considering the time they missed due to covid, and the energy / momentum they had from both the DM album and the tour. I have to think the band has known about and been planning for this for some time now.
I can see Chad smith drumming if RHCP are still on break from a nonstop 2 year tour run

Agree. Lots more things make sense now. In the last DM tour when doing the band intros I have found EV has empathised even more about how lucky they’ve been to have Matt playing for them. Wonder if this has been in the works for longer than we think

If the band continues, Dave Krusen is the most logical choice.

???? just makes it easier to keep up with posts and comment in a single thread no? What’s the issue there?
Wow... From the way this is written and the band's response, it definitely feels like there's more to the story. Regardless, I wish him the best—he’s clearly talented and shouldn't have any trouble finding new opportunities. Hoping the band finds a drummer who brings fresh energy to this next chapter!
Since he has given no reason for leaving the band; I would say the likelihood of there being more to the story is 100%. The possibilities are endless.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata

Not entirely shocked by this, after Taylor's death (and Cornell's to an extent) it seemed that touring wasn't a priority for Matt considering the PJ shows shrunk. He clearly wants to finish the Soundgarden stuff and potentially tour with Kim and Ben. He's in his 60s and his daughter just graduated college, can't knock him in the least for choosing to put a bow on the SG project over PJ. Wish him nothing but the best and just hoping Pearl Jam can bring back one of the previous drummers (Jack/Dave K) instead of going outside the band for someone like Josh Freese despite how great he is.

Krusen would be good to have, again. Bring back the original members to wind down the band.
Agree. Keep it in the family. I think a new member at this stage of the game is kind of lame.
All for him or Richard S.
If by Richard S., you are referring to Richard Starkey, aka Ringo Starr, coincidentally his 85th birthday is today and I understand that he is available! "Peace and love".
I don't see them re-tapping one of the 90s drummers unless it was for studio stuffed with a hired gun on the road, but that also doesn't scream PJ to me. They're not scrambling to find a last min replacement for gigs already on the calendar, so my guess is that this takes time and we won't see a big name like Chad/Josh/etc

I completely agree with this. Neither side even hinted at the "why." Could be simple, could be complex.
