Only drummer I’ve seen live.  Wish Matt the best and nothing lasts forever.  Fortunate to see Matt’s final shows in Pittsburgh.

Sounds like a possible full album’s worth of Soundgarden material on the way. If they have decided on a vocalist to tour with guessing Matt is going full Soundgarden.
Would you go see soundgarden without chris?
    Fuck that

If the Gallagher brothers can make amends and do their thing again, why can’t PJ and Dave A do the same?
    Imagine this going full circle?

FF didn't even cross my mind as a landing spot for him, and I think it's very unlikely he goes there for so many reasons.

& if PJ didn't have plans to move forward without him, I think this would have been a much different announcement.

& yeah..... I'm just sad. It really was the perfect marriage for all parties involved after Soundgarden broke up. I too hope he's healthy.

Just wow, absoloutely devastating. There is now no way we are ever going to hear Get Right, some chump isn't going to go learn that material with the way sets are going these days. He was such an absoloute beast in all the songs, every jam was different and he'd play so many cool weird grooves and unique fills.

SG were meant to play at the Sabbath show too but didn't. I assume 'more to follow' means some kind of an SG reprise and he doesn't want to tour with both bands like he did.

good lord, Dave A. The guy is STILL, to this very day, complaining online about how Ed and the band treated him. And he says openly he hates the band's music now. No chance he'd be invited back at this point.

I imagine we'll hear rumours when they decide to next get in the studio and record.

    Correct.

The path forward is unclear (and all options are on the table), but one thing's for sure:

Dave Abbruzzese's time with the band has passed.

What, he isn't a professoinal drummer. He is the most unobvious choice. He doesn't all the songs, he only knows the first few albums.

Hard to see them hiring a new full time drummer. Have to think it would be hard at this point to start over with a brand new relationship with a drummer, No?  Maybe they'll just go the Josh Freeze Hired Gun route.
