I absolutely understand that if you are a fan of their music that its an experience that will be amplified by the type of venue. Small club shows are always a blast when a band we love plays there. But when the music really does very little for you, i'd disagree. There are tons of bands out there playing small shows bringing huge energy emotion and joy at playing their music - just because its the foo fighters adds nothing to the equation for me.stones said:
As someone who went to the London show I'd suggest you missed out. If you love the energy of live music then seeing a band of their stature in a small venue with a stripped back stage setup and just bringing energy, emotion and simply the unadulterated joy of playing live music then its quite an experience.pdalowsky said:
Im with you on the foo's, I wish I understood the hype around them or how on earth they fill countless stadiums. beyond their first two records the music, imo at least, is just bang average and I couldnt be less interested in going to see them.nicknyr15 said:
Because they’re no fun. Their idea of fun is pushing clearance posters on us. It’s a shame I can’t stand the foos or phish or countless other bands that always do cool shitmcgruff10 said:foo fighters are playing irving plaza and starland ballroom the next few days!!! why can't pearl jam do something like this?!?!
Dave does have a solid aura around him (outside his recent mishaps that is) but there has to be more to it than that.
They played some club shows in the Uk last month and even driving one hour to get in seemed too much effort.
I'd hate the Foos, far from it, they have a few good tunes, but after a while Dave's vocals start to grate, the slow song starts building to a shouty chorus time after time starts to get a bit too much, and its all just very predictable and cliched for me. I get however that I am firmly in the minority.
I saw the Sprints recently in a super small club in Sheffield - that was Phenomenal. Cost £12. In my eyes thats the no brainer for me0 -
that said I do understand what you are saying. Seeing a huge artist in a little club is a great experience. My only contention is that its something of a requirement to like that band.stones said:

In simple terms - if I found that a band like the Stone Roses (I know I may get lynched for this), Blur of QOTSA were playing a small club close to me, I'd rather sit in the garden with my dog.
BUT if someone like Metallica, Oasis, Rage against the machine, SOAD, REM (as if) were there I would move heaven and earth to be inside. So I genuinely get where you are coming from, although Im not too sad at the missing out here.

Who knows this may ultimately be where they go but for my fandom that's a move in the wrong directionstones said:
I have never fully understood the fan expectation that there will be some grand unveiling for the new drummer. The new guy can really never be a direct replacement for Matt, they just won't have the same shared history nor are they likely to be an equal collaborator/full band member. I have always felt that this is much more likely to be a Josh or Boom type deal with the new guy either being introduced as part of releasing new music or when they next hit the road.CantKeepmedown said:It's likely that there is no need to announce a drummer with no plans/hints of new music or live shows. I'm sure that they have some candidates in mind, but there's no point in putting that news out there for no reason.
Different circumstances altogether, but the Foos didn't announce Josh Freese until 3 days before their 2023 tour started lol.0 -
There are too many great, cohesive bands coming through these days that time and expense on a legendary band spackling it together with touring and session musicians is a tough sell0

I'm not a huge Foo Fighters fan. But what matters is that they're going on tour at all. They deliver a rock concert experience. That's what counts, after all.

I don't think they'll release some goofy video like the Foo Fighters did but I absolutely expect them to announce that they have a new drummer in some fashion. Even if it's a simple post from the official PJ account on twitter/instagram.0

My best guess now is we'll get Ed for Ohana, and maybe Ed will have some news to share at Ohana. *Sigh* it's a long road to another tour or show apparently.HailHailVitalogy said:I always believed Ohana would be the only Pj shows this year with a possible 5-8 dates in South America in November. Sorry..saw long road and started singing0 -
I would expect it because it's 2026, and the world has a big culture of grand reveals and social media hype and mystery boxes -- anything that generates a little excitement. Of course, PJ isn't known for going along with what everyone else is doing, but it's still fun. It's also probably a side effect of living in a difficult or monotonous political or economic situation - people invent things to get excited about or get excited about things that aren't a huge deal. I will take any excitement or fun I can get!stones said:I have never fully understood the fan expectation that there will be some grand unveiling for the new drummer.0 -

This. Quite a few people have been saying it, but now's the time to expand your musical palate. I feel like I've got a pretty exciting lineup this year sans PJ.pjl44 said:There are too many great, cohesive bands coming through these days that time and expense on a legendary band spackling it together with touring and session musicians is a tough sell0 -

well that is a pretty BIG hint that something is happenning , you dont have a CEO of a football team saying that just because , something must be booked already 200% closed.Shaindli1 said:How reliable is this?
that being said , last year Ed had a US tour booked with merch done and everything got cancelled but that is definitly a very BIG hint that something is about to happen (if its not or will be cancelled)0 -
Do you want to be able to get it out or do you want to not be able to get it out?
