But now it seems like its being walked back from the guy said they're booked to play there this year to "sometime in the future".  I'm not rooting for them not to play... I HOPE they do play.  That's good news for all fans.  But its wild that you crashed out over my post doubting this would happen just to then basically agree with me that they're is no compelling information that says they're playing this year.

it doesnt get any more official than that besides the band actually announcing but as i said above Ed had a tour last year booked with merch made and everything got cancelled for whatever reason so there is that, so nothing is official until the band actually announces it but dont make the stupid comparision u made because u clearly dont know what you are talking about.

Maybe they really want Pearl Jam to play and maybe they’ve even reached out to the band?  Maybe this guy is trying to generate a buzz and he’s throwing out names he would like to have play? Maybe he had no idea some message board would take that snippet and blow it up?

This guy as i said is the CEO of the club , im not from brasil (from portugal, we share the same language) and he is clearly saying the band will play there , he is not throwing names around for hype . he says and quoting(went back to listen again) : "we had the luan santana show(brasilian singer), we will have pearl jam in the future" that is the exact quote from what he is saying.

so not 2026 but maybe the band is booked there for 2027? something is or was booked thats is 100% for sure

no , if u translate literally word by word he says pearl jam will play there up ahead but translating into a normal sentence its in the future , thats why people assumed its 2026 , the expression is used for something not too far away

So not playing there in 2026 is consistent with the bands comments, no?

If you know portuguese what he said , he gives the impression that it could be this year, i already explained that in another post. Specially since most bands tour south america late in the year these days or very early in the year like january/february

I have never fully understood the fan expectation that there will be some grand unveiling for the new drummer.  The new guy can really never be a direct replacement for Matt, they just won't have the same shared history nor are they likely to be an equal collaborator/full band member.  I have always felt that this is much more likely to be a Josh or Boom type deal with the new guy either being introduced as part of releasing new music or when they next hit the road.

Depends who they get. If they got say Stephen Perkins, he might have the clout to get membership. 

The difference from Boom & Josh is they need the drummer for writing & in the studio. But membership or not I expect they get one guy to be the guy going forward, I very much doubt they use rotating mercenaries. Which is why I strongly doubt it’ll be Freese

Steve Ferrone played with the Heartbreakers in studio and on tour from 1995-2017 and was never an "official" member.

Bud… you posted that this guy said Pearl Jam was booked to play there this year.  Can we agree he never said that?  Can we agree that multiple members of the band have said there’s no drummer and no plans to tour?

Seems like I missed an interesting few days?!  At least there are actual rumours floating around which is always better than the deafening silence.

Now, whether to believe rumours or be sceptical is always a bit of a personal choice, and I think we've all been around the block enough to at least have some degree of scepticism...

Personally I do feel like there is some nuance and grey here...  though for sure this is undoubtedly true.  I can't recall exactly what was said but it didn't seem to rule out the possibility that the situation could change at a future date.  None of the band members are going to openly speculate on what might happen, although I am sure they have been having those conversations amongst themselves.  I do remember Ed saying they were in the woodshed or something equally as cryptic, and then Mike saying he wants to play, but then adding something along the lines of 'we move slowly, until we don't and then we move fast'...

To me this all boils down to if they want to do something then they will, if they want to play Ohana then they will.  If they want to play some S.America shows then they will.  They played shows in California in 2022 when they needed to replace Matt at very short notice.  Ohana is in late September, they have 5 months to prepare for that.  S.America is likely to be after Ohana, so they have even longer.

If they want to get out together and play some music then it doesn't necessarily mean that they need a new permanent drummer, at least not for a short tour.  Especially not if they ask Dave K to fill in for a few shows like they did in 2022.

Who knows what will happen. Lots of this talk, whether by the band or venue, needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. 

Haven’t we had places in South America saying every year for the last 5-6 years that PJ was rumoured to play, for nothing to then materialise? 

We’ve all seen quotes from the band never materialise as well. Remember Jeff saying in the Summer before DM was released that nothing was recorded and then the next year he said it was recorded in Spring /early Summer the previous year. Plus his quote saying we hope to  see London/Berlin next year. 

We can hope but I don’t think we can get too excited yet.
