    My wishful thinking now with this Brazil thing is that the reason they haven’t announced the Ohana lineup is because PJ is on the lineup but are waiting for a bigger tour announcement to announce it all together

    Because if u havent figure out by now the band members can say whatever they want and you have to take it with a salt of graint and we had many examples with that in past but in the near past you had jeff saying they would come back to europe lasy year after the 2024 cancelations.

    Im not saying the shows will happen 100% but something is or was booked in Brasil if u have the freaking CEO of the football club talking about it , that is why the comparision u made was stupid

    I’m pretty sure the CEO of Atlético wasn’t trying to create any buzz about whether Pearl Jam will play in Brasil or not. He was talking about the club’s management and how it makes money, saying the arena they built is financially sustainable. As an example, he mentioned a show that already happened and said: "We’re going to have Pearl Jam in the future". He didn’t say exactly when. It could be this year, it could be 2027.
    Rumors about Pearl Jam playing at Rock in Rio this year are also getting stronger. An online news site, Moodgate, even said PJ could play on the same day as Twenty One Pilots (another act that hasn’t been announced yet).
    On the other hand, some journalists from Chile and Argentina say a possible show could happen in October or November.
    The truth is, we should know pretty soon. Rock in Rio is expected to complete its lineup by the 25th of this month, and if that rumor doesn’t come true, I think a South American tour in October or November would probably have to be announced by the end of the month too.

    Sorry… gotta disagree.  If my choice is between multiple band members saying they have no drummer and have nothing planned or an executive at a company who’s job it is to sell tickets… I’m going with the band every time.  

    I never said the band didn’t have discussions to play in South America.  That’s very likely.  But it was also very likely it was months ago when agreements need to be firmed up and the band was leaving their options open for a tour.  The latest comments from the band indicate they don’t plan to tour in the immediate future.  

    As for why someone who has a monetary interest in a company would say something that wasn’t true… I think that’s self explanatory.  We have a president who lies on a daily basis to promote and protect his own self interest with zero consequences.   

    Also… the moment your best point in a discussion is that someone is dumb or stupid is the moment you might need to reevaluate the point you’re trying to make.  Be better than that.

    that is a CEO of one of the biggest football clubs in brasil saying the band is actually booked to play there this year.
    why in the world would he even made that shit up? he wouldnt have anything to gain for saying and i doubt he is even a fan of the band to begin with or lets say a big fan if he actually knows the hits.

    it doesnt get any more official than that besides the band actually announcing but as i said above Ed had a tour last year booked with merch made and everything got cancelled for whatever reason so there is that, so nothing is official until the band actually announces it but dont make the stupid comparision u made because u clearly dont know what you are talking about.

    Maybe they really want Pearl Jam to play and maybe they’ve even reached out to the band?  Maybe this guy is trying to generate a buzz and he’s throwing out names he would like to have play? Maybe he had no idea some message board would take that snippet and blow it up? 

    My take is neither dumb or a straight up lie.  I’m basing my take on what the members of the band have told us.

    This guy as i said is the CEO of the club , im not from brasil (from portugal, we share the same language) and he is clearly saying the band will play there , he is not throwing names around for hype . he says and quoting(went back to listen again) : "we had the luan santana show(brasilian singer), we will have pearl jam in the future" that is the exact quote from what he is saying.

    so not 2026 but maybe the band is booked there for 2027? something is or was booked thats is 100% for sure

    no , if u translate literally word by word he says pearl jam will play there up ahead but translating into a normal sentence its in the future , thats why people assumed its 2026 , the expression is used for something not too far away
    So not playing there in 2026 is consistent with the bands comments, no?
