Experts question whether Edward Coristine, a DOGE staffer who has gone by “Big Balls” online, would pass the background check typically required for access to sensitive US government systems.Photograph: Saul Loeb-Pool/Getty ImagesA young technologist known online as “Big Balls,” who works for Elon Musk's so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has access to sensitive US government systems. But his professional and online history call into question whether he would pass the background check typically required to obtain security clearances, security experts tell WIRED.
Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old high school graduate, established at least five different companies in the last four years, with entities registered in Connecticut, Delaware, and the United Kingdom, most of which were not listed on his now-deleted LinkedIn profile. Coristine also briefly worked in 2022 at Path Network, a network monitoring firm known for hiring reformed blackhat hackers. Someone using a Telegram handle tied to Coristine also solicited a cyberattack-for-hire service later that year.

I'm curious as to why, if they, DOGE, really want to save money, look at what we spend the most on? Military.
They ae looking to shut down bases which makes zero sense to me. Those are strategic places of interest. Unless u want to nuke everyone we need those bases.0 -
If they were reportedly responsible for a cyberattack for hire, it doesn’t suggest integrity or strength of character. Hire him for a cybersecurity company, sure, but letting him into the government? Well, not like any of us have a say anyways, so let’s just see how this goes. Hope for the best and anticipate the worst to temper expectations, that’s my MO for the next four years.tempo_n_groove said:

yeah or evaluate how "efficient" it is to spend millions for the president to attend a football game...that's why no other president has attended. It's too fucking expensive and too risky due to security issues.tempo_n_groove said:I'm curious as to why, if they, DOGE, really want to save money, look at what we spend the most on? Military.

or....how efficient is it to travel to maralago every weekend and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in travel, room and board, for secret service agents. There should be an allowance that, if exceeded, falls back on Mr Moneybags. Let him pay for it like he said he would eight years ago.

My attitude is that of Benjs, there's little we can do about it now besides hope for the best, but that doesn't make the willful ignorance any less frustrating.0 -
Yeah it's going to be a weird period of time. They haven't even been doing this for more than a few weeks and they are already throwing around the "fraud" accusations. No way they could determine if anything is fraudulent at this point. It's just bullshit but yeah...not a thing that we can do about it.Merkin Baller said:

Yesterday I kept seeing all kinds of shit about Musk spending $40mil to run Superbowl ads about the "fraud" they were uncovering. Nothing Musk said...just shit generated online that, once again, turns out to be bullshit.Remember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)

I was thinking about the extravagant lift it must be for a president to attend that game when I was watching last night. Unfortunately it seems people really don't care about those expenses because our president should be able to live like a king while in office. That's how he views it. He wouldn't have gone if it was a blue state. He goes so the Mahomes' family can get some selfies for their MAGA support and then salutes for the anthem like he has some sort of military history. He just wastes tax payers money constantly.Gern Blansten said:

And then you get Vance basically saying, the judiciary has no right to stop executive action. What a fuck wad. It just confuses the already dim bulbs supporting this bullshit.
