    yeah....so fucking weird

I know this is "old news" already, but i don't want anyone to forget that move. I think that anyone who believes that wasn't an intentional heil as a signal to the extreme right has just decided to stop believing their own eyes.

I feel like literally only a blind person could say it didn't look intentional.  The evidence is clear.

There really isn't any other explanation. It's like trump's "stand back and stand by" statement.

Remains to be seen what they end up doing, but this isn't promising
Mr. Musk’s aides, including Mr. Farritor, have requested access to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services systems that control contracts and the more than $1 trillion in payments that go out annually, according to a document seen by The Times.

It does give the appearance that Musk has all the power and he's cucking Trump.

And then you've got the DOJ threatening legal action against anyone who impedes him, but they don't even specifically indicate what the crime would be since Musk is some weird special employee. Jack Smith, not legal because he wasn't confirmed, Elon Musk, ah, we don't really care now....
    It's a hopeless situation...

It's going to be incredible to be reading in about 20 years how one of the business elites with failing businesses was able to weasel his way into government and bail himself out right in front of everyone's eyes.    Talking about Elon of course if you thought I was talking about Trump.  I don't know how to read Elon, but can't imagine how he is going about doing things will be good in the long run.

One thing is clear, the country doesn't know how to reign in spending and balance the budget.  Like with RFK Jr., is it going to have to take a crazy person with baggage to spur on reforms?  Otherwise, we'll just keep spending and for some reason keep eating poison that Europe has outlawed long ago.

The issue with the GOP is always revenue...the trickle down nonsense doesn't fly anymore so they have shifted to the tariff scam to convince the cult followers that cutting taxes on the wealthy makes sense because the tariffs that foreign countries pay will take care of the revenue side.

I did t disagree that there is waste in government spending. But approaching it by basically wiping the board clean is a chaotic approach.

Eliminating tax loopholes for the wealthy and making them pay their fair share while reducing waste but still building a more robust social net is the better approach.

Treating the government like an ant colony and some doozy asshole shaking up it so it’s has to start from scratch is reckless.

I’ll be stunned if we don’t hear that the federal government quit paying them before the spring equinox.

We need to start letting MAGA people know what is going on, that Musk had access to everyone's information.  Ask any MAGA you know to look into it.  Ask your bank what they are doing to protect your information.  If they don't know what you are talking about, tell them.  That will help spreed the word.
There is not a lot of time to prevent Musk from controlling everything.  Learn the facts and do something.  But don't resort to violence.  In this country, today, that does not help.  It turns people against you and makes things worse.
Call you representatives.  Call again.  Please, do something.

I had a talk w a coworker about this today.  If indeed there are made up jobs or someone getting paid to do nothing like the mob did then I am all for cutting bait with those jobs.

What I do have a problem with is it is a direct assault on the middle class.  The govt does keep people employed and there is waste.  As long as it doesn't send the economy and people into homelessness I'm ok with it though.

Something I did bring up is if these jobs are removed and there aren't any new places they can fill with them then they will be using the system to help them sustain their bills.  If they decide to cut that out then the US economy will surely go to shit.

There are always reactions to what happens and the markets will follow suit.

Something that puts my job in direct crosshairs is DEI.  We are a WBE and get contracts based on that.  We might have to shut doors if all this comes to fruition.

totally agree...these fuckers are just making shit up though and it's impossible to believe anything they say.

Why didn't trump shut down USAid during his first term? Was it full of criminals then? Or did these people just decide to be criminals once Biden was elected?

The stupidity is just off the charts.

This is a more complex situation than I think a lot of people are aware of.  I know and have known a lot of people with government jobs.  I've had a few myself at the federal level.  My experience was that there seems lot of disparity as far as how much work gov employees do.  I was a teacher for a number of years and teaching is considered a government job and some teachers bust their ass while others coast.  In other gov jobs I've had, it always seemed like some people worked very hard and were always busy and some did very little.  I know one woman who had a gov job where she worked at tasks related to her position for about an hour a day and knitted the rest of the day.  I'm not exaggerating.  I suspect a lot of people get a pay check for doing what I'm doing right now.
So there is, indeed, waste in government.  I'm not sure how to solve that (but destroying it all would not be my answer.)

And man, seriously, I really hope you don't lose your job.

DOGE Teen Owns ‘Tesla.Sexy LLC’ and Worked at Startup That Has Hired Convicted Hackers

Experts question whether Edward Coristine, a DOGE staffer who has gone by “Big Balls” online, would pass the background check typically required for access to sensitive US government systems.

A young technologist known online as “Big Balls,” who works for Elon Musk's so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has access to sensitive US government systems. But his professional and online history call into question whether he would pass the background check typically required to obtain security clearances, security experts tell WIRED.

Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old high school graduate, established at least five different companies in the last four years, with entities registered in Connecticut, Delaware, and the United Kingdom, most of which were not listed on his now-deleted LinkedIn profile. Coristine also briefly worked in 2022 at Path Network, a network monitoring firm known for hiring reformed blackhat hackers. Someone using a Telegram handle tied to Coristine also solicited a cyberattack-for-hire service later that year.

    continues. ...

Trump was elected twice. Character probably doesn’t make the top ten list for desirable traits for a Republican leader. I don’t think it matters to them at all, frankly.
