Soldier Field next summer.

I heard from a very reliable source (sorry can’t give it away) that PJ is playing Soldier Field this summer.

Honestly, it doesn’t make any sense to me. Because they just played Chicago in 2023 and 2024.

But it’s a very credible source.

Anyone else hear anything?

Aren't they tearing it down? Maybe they'll do the thing they did for the Spectrum? I live in Chicago so I'm there no matter what.

Oasis already scheduled to play there in August
  • Not tearing it down. The Bears are just looking for a new home.

    I guess time will tell.

Oasis, My Chemical Romance and System of a Down all in the same week (end) I believe.

Obviously I'm not the most plugged in Bears fan lol. I just knew they were leaving. I figured they'd just take it down because the space is useful and a big empty stadium is pretty useless. But maybe they'll repurpose it. Whatever happens, if PJ plays there, I'll be there!

We would try to make it if it happens.
  • I’ll be there if this is true! I believe it was listed as a landmark before but lost that when they did the renovations a while back. Could be wrong though. Either way I don’t think they’d be tearing it down for a few more years if they do move

The columns outside of the stadium are what’s landmark protected. That’s why they built the stadium inside of them back a few decades ago.

I'd prefer Wrigley just because its easier to get in/out and theres stuff in the neighborhood. But I'll always take another Chicago show.

I'm seeing more and more shows happen there. Oasis, System of a Down and Avenged Sevenfold.... It would be neat, but when was the last time PJ played a NFL stadium...?

Ah thanks for the correction. As a lifelong Chicagoan my Bears knowledge is pretty shameful since I’m not much of a football fan. I agree with RatherStarved though, Soldier Field wouldn’t be my first choice to see them here. Passed on paying $$$ to sit in the 400s for Metallica at Soldier Field. I also think Wrigley has run its course as well. Give me the United Center everytime.

  • I would love a return back to Alpine Valley,  but I'll take Soldier field.  I wonder 🤔 can this be something due to PJ 35?

Soldier field is absolutely awful for concerts. Wouldn’t miss this one, but not a fan of the stadium for concerts.

Also I would absolutely love a return to Chicago, but I feel like this is a type of an event for a 40 year thing.
Why are we so sure they’d celebrate year 35? What’s the significance

It's a fan theory/thing people are willing into existence. Also, the timing is all over the place as far as to celebrate 'what'. Hell, Jeff was wearing shirts with 33 on them, and Ed was ever present with his Walter Payton 34 jersey lol.
The only thing we have to go on, is Ed said they were planning "something special" this year, and the 10-date jaunt isn't it. That's just 2023 over again to keep the wheels greased ;) more to come...

Sound is okay. I’m sure PJ would/did sound great there. You’re there to watch the screens, unless you’re actually close.
Just leaving afterwards, doesn’t seem to matter if you leave early, or hang around. The hordes of people trying to navigate that museum campus is a nightmare. And I usually don’t care about large crowds. Leaving lollapalooza is easier than leaving a concert at soldier field. In my opinion

My pessimistic side just thinks they’d wait till year 40 to do another big anniversary type event!
will never be upset for  them finding a reason to play Chicago!

I believe the fees were $24 on next year’s tickets, let alone the ticket price.
