    Thinking that people view Harris as an amazing candidate might be a misperception. Sure, some do, but mostly I think she’s viewed as having better odds at beating Trump, so there’s excitement from that.

    Yes.

    1) There's a chance at winning now;
    2) Unity is key!
    3) I think Harris has improved as a politician through practice/ experience;
    4) She is able to be her more authentic self now, and that comes across differently;
    5) I still think Pete Buttigieg is the best person Dems have;
    6) I think Harris will be a fine POTUS -- probably not the best, definitely not the worst we've had.
    7) Preserving small-d democratic norms is all that matters right now. Really.
    8) "Defund the police" was a foolish and misguided slogan.
    Yeah I think she'll do fine although the opposition is going to be brutal. I think right wing news will be happy to have her to kick around for a few years.

    And yeah to #8...a decent idea but bad delivery. It's like a lot of political issues in that most people agree with the argument but a lot of people don't understand the argument being made.

    "Reform" the police? Sure. Refocus? Okay. But "defund" -- no.

    If it was Reform the Police, it would have had overwhelming support.

    I think some twitter bots came up with "Defund the Police" to try and crash the Dems' 2020 chances. Almost worked.

    POOTWH campaign raised $138 million in July. Harris campaign raised $310 million. Both amounts are disgusting but I’ll take it, and thank Citizens United, I suppose.

    Citizens United is money from super PAC’s through anonymous unlimited donations, generally from billionaires and the like. The campaigns directly raise money from citizens with an annual limit.

    Have you seen Walz video with his daughter about keeping ones hands on the wheel while driving? No one commits suicide by stabbing herself repeatedly in the neck in it.

    I like both but I've been a bit surprised at some of the catty shit going on with Shapiro. Fetterman was issuing warnings to Harris' camp that Shapiro was only in it for himself, etc., which seemed like an odd attack. I also saw some of Shapiro's comments about Palestinians and Israel that could cause some drama.

    That rally at Temple tomorrow will be odd if Shapiro isn't the running mate. Either way. I have the same feeling about losing Shapiro. And he's only been Gov. for 18 months, and dealing with a divided legislature. Seems like the Lt. Gov. is fairly inexperienced.

    Walz has fun energy, but IMO he is not POTUS material. Shapiro and Buttigieg are the clear best choices, in my opinion.

    I believe the "genocide Josh" online thing is a psy op.

    I understand and respect that the situation in Gaza is highly fraught and deeply tragic and horrific. But the idea that anyone who is unhappy with how Biden is handling things somehow would be *happier* with the way T---p would deal with that conflict? That's completely bananas.

    My take on how T---p would handle Gaza: He would call Netanyahu, and say, hey, Bibi, burn it all to the ground, I'll look the other way as long as you set aside a prime piece of beachfront property for me to build a new hotel.

    He has a 60% approval rating in PA. Most of us are really happy with him here. What other politician is that popular? Whatever they lose with those dopes, they will gain more so in independents.

    I will say that he does have a couple skeletons in the closet that not a lot people are talking about yet. But I am sure most politicians are the same in that regard.

    I like him. Will always remember his kid walking on camera into an interview during the pandemic when he was state AG. Not sure the electoral college is ready for someone completely outside the traditional American religions, let alone the pro Palestinian faction of the democrat party. Hope I am wrong.

    I started seeing stuff about Walz's DUI arrest years ago on TikTok this morning...doesn't look like a big deal since it surfaced when he was running before but we'll see if that is a main point of attack here shortly.
