How is one w long hair allowed to wrestle?  We had to have our hair short and nails trimmed. Coach would have made me do laps for taking off my head gear too.

Depending on the sport, shouldn't they, though. The point of the original post here was not competition but safety. If it's that much of a safety concern, then to protect this girl, she should have been told "no." She's not just playing against one genetic male but dozens.

There’s a big difference between a biological male playing down to a girls league vs a female choosing to pay up in a boys league. Especially when there are no female options for that sport. It’s still her choice to play against males.

Yes and no? The collegiate-level part makes sense to me. The part where it "expands on similar restrictions" applied to K-12 tells us that the cruelty is the point.
I think "we" -- people discussing the subject here in good faith -- generally agree that once children go through puberty, sex-based differences come into play and a biological male who has gone through male puberty should not be playing competitive women's sports, regardless of their gender identity.
But do any of us really have a problem with six-year-old boys and girls playing soccer or t-ball together? That tells me that this law was created not to implement a common-sense solution but rather to telegraph an anti-trans message. The objective wasn't to protect girls/ young women.
That said, even a broken clock is right twice a day, etc.
All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.

It depends. State and local governments will get involved when we're talking about public schools. Less likely to if it's something like private travel teams.

There's a difference between a girl accepting that risk by joining a boys' team vs. a boy competing on the girls' team. In the latter case, they'd have to quit if they don't accept the risk. I see that as untenable.

If you consider yourself liberal and happen to agree with conservatives on a couple issues that should not give you pause. Or vice versa. We're individuals and have complex thoughts. It's weirder to stake out an ideological position and feel compelled to be in lockstep.

From a competition standpoint, I agree. From a safety standpoint, I'm not as sure.

I guess the coach feels that if a player doesn't feel safe, he won't play them and that's that. I don't think anyone in the organization wants to stand up to BC soccer.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/olympics/2024/08/01/olympic-boxer-imane-khelif-gender-eligibility-issue/74628914007/

So this was odd...I guess I'm not sure why this would be allowed in the Olympics

PARIS – Algeria's Imane Khelif, one of two female Olympic boxers disqualified from the 2023 world championships after failing gender eligibility tests, entered the ring Thursday at the Paris Games.
Her bout ended in abrupt and bizarre fashion.
Khelif prevailed when Italy’s Angela Carini stopped fighting after 46 seconds.
Carini was punched in the nose and shortly afterward said she didn't want to fight anymore, according to Italian coach Emanuele Renzini
"After one punch she feel big pain,'' Renzini told reporters,.

I first heard about this yesterday before the fight.
I tried reading into it, and supposedly there is no evidence the boxes is trans or used to be male other than the chromosome results. No indication she had ever transitioned and had even been a male. She claimed the test results that disqualified her were false because they didn’t want someone don’t Algeria winning the gold in nationals.
I don’t know if any of that is true. I can’t find the article because it’s all about the fight results now.
I find it interesting, if the test results were wrong or faked, get a new test. But the IOC hasn’t come out and plainly said trans boxers aren’t allowed anyway, they leave it up to the governing officials of each sport. But I bet that’s about to change.

Yall see that dude beat the shit out of a girl at the Olympics? What a sham. He may be hermaphrodite but that doesn't give him the right to pound on chicks faces.
