Jello Biafra spoke on my campus immediately after 9/11/2001. I mean immediately like the next day, or possibly later the same week. We were still parsing who did what and why, it was just the aftermath of a terrible tragedy.brianlux said:Check this out! You may or may not be a Jello fan (I am!), but his ideas here make good sense and, besides, nothing is working right now. If you like Mr. Biafra's idea here, spread it around. It's not too late (Jon Stewart said the same and they both proved it).
Sheer coincidence - his speech was already scheduled and he could have cancelled or re-scheduled. He did not. Instead, he scrapped his usually prepared remarks; to give one of the most inspirational and life-changing lectures of my life.
If anyone had a crystal ball that day, they lent it to Jello. Spent much of his speech going on about how the government (and Conservatives in particular) will use 9/11 to exploit and abuse any / every civil liberty we enjoy. I wish I could find a record or transcript.0

the dems deserve to lose. this is a slow time public assassination like brutus and cassius and the roman senate stabbing caesar in public view. biden could have overcome the poor debate performance, as evidenced by most polling. he will not overcome the public betrayal by donors and elected democrats. fuck em.mickeyrat said:"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

I wish I could find a record or transcript.Excellent! I would love to see or read that speech!A drummer friend of mine, Andy, came into the bookstore one day in 2017. I heard Andy say "hi" and I glanced up and said "hello" and then noticed someone was with him. Oh my, did I ever do a double take! Andy said, "Hey Brian, this is my friend Jello." What a trip! I kept my cool and told Jello I was pleased to meet him, without going too overboard with gushing (well, inside I was, haha).A couple of things I loved about meeting Jello included how down-to-earth and easy going and friendly he is. As punk and heavy hitting as he is on stage, in person he's both a very cool guy and a real sweet soul. The other thing I remember quite well is how sharp Jello is. He said things off the top of his head that were so brilliant and, just as often, absolutely hilarious. He's also a real cat lover. What an honor and pleasure it was to meet the man. (And I will say the same for Andy. I'm so lucky to know him!)"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

Joe BidenBiden's plan for a second term includes:
 - raising taxes on millionaires and billionaires
 - breaking up monopolies
 - reducing junk fees from banks and airlines
 - further lowering the cost of prescription drugs
 - increasing worker protections
 - strengthening unions
 - capping the rate of rental price increases
 - battling corporate profiteering
Gee, I wonder why the rich and powerful want him to step aside... 🤔🧐_____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________

Joe BidenThere are 800 Billionaires. That’s only 800 votes, people. Meanwhile, more than 80 million of us voted for Biden in 2020. This is a reminder there are more of us but they control the media and are using it against us prevent some of us from voting._____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________

Hillary Clinton floated as ‘mightiest of all’ Biden replacements in column, gets mocked onlineTrump senior advisor Jason Miller shared the piece on X and declared, 'SHE'S RUNNING'Published July 20, 2024 4:16pm EDTSocial media users were surprised by a new column from "The Hill" floating former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton as the replacement for President Biden’s 2024 candidacy. The outlet’s opinion contributor, Pablo O’Hana authored a piece on Saturday titled, "Ready for Round 2: Why we Need Hillary more than ever." It argued that the former U.S. Secretary of State, who already lost the presidency to former President Trump in 2016, is the most suitable person to replace Biden as calls for him to suspend his re-election camp grow. The piece turned heads on social media, with people like senior Trump advisor Jason Miller theorizing that there must be some weight behind this claim. "SHE’S RUNNING!!!" he declared. In the column, O’Hana wrote, "The strongest argument against replacing President Joe Biden as the 2024 Democratic nominee is the notion that no suitable successor exists. But there is, and not just a good one but one of the most qualified people ever to run for the office: Hillary Rodham Clinton." He even asserted that Clinton is "perhaps the mightiest of all" alternatives to Biden, arguing that she is "younger than both Biden and Trump," has "an unparalleled resume and an unmatched depth of experience," and is a strong advocate "for children’s rights and health care." The author even went so far as to say that there are "millions" of voters who regret not voting for her in 2016 and want a do-over. "These swing-back voters are crucial to winning; Clinton can turn past regrets into proactive support by being a powerful reminder of the stakes of straying in 2024." O’Hana concluded his piece, declaring, "The Democrats have a seasoned, savvy and adaptable candidate in Hillary Clinton. Without the burden of incumbency, she can run on a platform of stability, restoration and progress, with the credibility of her lifetime in public service and proven leadership. In her candidacy, we might just find our best chance to retain the White House and transcend the gladiatorial spectacle of politics." The piece got some attention on X. In his post, Miller added, "These opinion pieces don’t happen organically - Crooked is on the move!!!" Conservative commentator Alex Sheppard remarked on the piece, stating, "If so, this is great news for Trump. She is the least likable politician of all time." 0
