Wow, so he really is playing Toronto Wednesday, hauling all that gear to So Cal for Saturday and then turning around and going back east to Philly on Monday? That’s crazy! Being a festival he won’t have to bring all the lighting gear and they may borrow some other things, but still.

I saw Sting recently as he opened here for Billy Joel. I enjoyed his set much more than Billy.. he was alot of fun

Sting is a great choice! Too bad it's not a one off full on The Police reunion show. That would have been really hype

Ha.  Just not worth the expensive trip.  For me, at least.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

The first album I ever bought with my own money was Synchronicity. Now, 41 years later, I'll be seeing Sting live for the first time (not including his appearance with Pearl Jam at MSG). His two most recent studio albums of originals, 57th & 9th and The Bridge, are quite good. I'm very happy about this.
I gather speed from you fucking with me.

he plays st louis on friday the 27th. so yeah he’ll be moving around a LOT.

not disappointed with this pick, even if it isn’t the most exciting to me. it’s someone i probably wouldn’t see outside of a festival or multi-artist setting and obviously has a great catalog of music. i saw the police at bonnaroo like 15 years ago and it was fun even if it felt mostly paint-by-numbers. plus, there’s at least an established relationship with pearl jam to some extent, as the band have played his songs and he’s played with them. that’s all cool to me.

Sting's a relatively solid pick, he puts on a good show. If anything, seems like Saturday will be a good day to chill, discover a few bands, and rest up for Sunday
  • Never seen him before. My older sis was a huge fan in the 80’s, so his songs def hold a bit of nostalgia. I’ll be excited when he hits the stage.

Nothing was going to replace Neil and the prospects of some NYPJ.

    So not any of NIN/Elton John/Bruce Springsteen/The Cure/Zach Bryan/Jason Isbell/Alice in Chains/Neil Young replacing Neil Young… oh well it’ll still be cool

Ok.  Nice.  Out of all possible replacements, Sting was the only one that my wife would consider skipping the Miramar airshow and see Sting on Saturday for a full 3 day concert viewing.

Of those that are opposed, not sure how many Police / Sting songs you have heard, but I'm sure there's something there that you would like.  Sting is really a fantastic musician.

Acoustic ballads while sitting on a stool ain't gonna do it!

So we are getting Sting playing his 4th consecutive night in 4 different cities, 2 countries and 3 time zones? Seriously this really sucks.

My opinion is Sting is a horrible choice. Not because he isn't iconic, because it's Saturday night! WTF?? Sting?? Jesus what a lame ass choice. Sting? really? WTF does he even sing solo? This is a three day festival with PJ playing Friday and Sunday, and Sting headlining on Saturday!! So disappointing imo. No way to even refund as I spent a couple grand, family, on three day tickets. Go ahead and flame away.

It could have been a lot worse than Sting. He’s a fantastic musician and I love that he gets that people want to hear The Police songs. Would kill for an impromptu visit from Stewart and Andy too. I know they hate each other, but Ed has a couple months to try to talk him into it. I will hold out hope. Even if they don’t, I’m not mad at all to see Sting Saturday night.

Seems like a fun show to me. Looking forward to seeing him here in Boston in October.

Maybe you'll get a full lute set because he doesnt want to haul or borrow any gear
