I'm aware that Pearl Jam have always done a lot of things differently to other bands. But these relatively short-term tour announcements have always annoyed me. Does anyone know a reason why they don't manage to announce a tour a year in advance like other bands?
I like the “short run through North America” wording as it implies maybe some Canadian dates and not just USA.

2021 - 2023 had me saying I might be done traveling for this band... 2024 sent that right out the window... If they're playing in NA in 2025, I'll do everything I can to catch at least one show.

Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.
Just saw Jeff Lynne's ELO at the Toyota Center in Houston tonight... all i could think about before the show was PJ should play here
LOL... I've completely given up on that wish. See a show and get to sleep in my own bed? I doubt it will ever happen at this stage.
But to be completely honest... Toyota center is a super blah venue, there isn't much that makes the building unique or memorable... same goes for my least favorite venue in the planet... the woodlands pavilion. I can understand why they wouldn't play Houston.
Since there are only two months of warm summer in Montana, that is where we would probably rather be. I do not think that is a dis on Europe.
That was my thought when I read Jeff's quote also. Having grown up in Canada and having a lot of friends that have to travel for project work all over North America and the globe, that sentiment seems to be universal. People that grew up in, or currently reside, in areas of the plant that experience extended periods of the year without sunshine and/or a legit winter want to be there in the summer when it's gorgeous to get outside...
Me, I'm the opposite... Houston has taught me to hate the sun. I never had a love it, but when it looks beautiful outside and you step out the front door and it's 40 degrees C and 100% RH, I hate my fucking life. Get me back to place with a real winter.
Anyway... back to talking about Toronto! Leafs are off to great start to miss the playoffs! Lots of availability at Scotiabank!
But you have good BBQ and Tacos. And not far from the gulf coast. I love Texas but not sure I could live there. Maybe if the daughter gets in to UT and we need that resident tuition.
BBQ and tacos aren't worth the toxic political environment and the unbearable heat 8 months of the year. Tell your daughter to find another school. UT is a good system, don't get me wrong, but so are a million others if she is looking out of state. And the gulf coast in Texas is gross, nothing but muddy water and chemical plants / refineries. I have no love of Florida, but at least their beaches are beautiful.
I have been trying to get the fuck out of here for 5 years... I just can't get my kids out of this state. their mom won't agree to leave.
I have the same problem here in New York. I love Austin. Just enough Brooklyn for her to feel at home and many educational choices, I think it might be good for her to see something 360 degrees the other way from New York. I am certainly not sending her to Michigan, Penn State, or Columbus Ohio LOL. Truth be told, she will probably end up at Syracuse or Cornell if she can get in. But Arizona U and UT on are the radar. I just want her to experience something different from New York.
What's your beef with Michigan?
No beef. She wants to be near a city and Detroit is not on her list. And not in the midwest or the west coast. Her choice, not mine.
Got it! Fair enough. Although Ann Arbor is pretty great, but understand as my daughter has been going through the application process and having to make those same decisions.
Good luck with the process, it is not so bad once you get through it. Just wait until you start the financial aid process. That is more stressful and requires more vigilance than the applications. I think Michigan and Michigan State are great schools, with a great culture and enormous Alumni networks. UCONN and Syracuse have roots in our family so they make the list. Cornell is her reach school. After that we are going to be throwing darts to see what sticks.

Sorry for the radio silence, but was reaching out to a few peeps to see if they heard anything similar.
Spoke to someone at Ohana who works very closely with Ed, Jeff & Stone in particular:
DM has legs. CBS Sunday Morning drove up PJ site traffic & overall band interest. All the singles have gotten decent airplay, but there's a lot of buzz around WFS. If it does well, we might see more dates. BUT, in the mean time...
a short run in the first half of the year, and a equally short "stint in one place" later in the year.
He didn't confirm SA, but he DID confirm North America. He also didn't elaborate if the residence was Sphere, or Seattle. But he did say "just a handful".
Lastly, the band has an open invite to play Ohana again (every year), but it's up in the air. Everyone was very visibly having a great time (Dancing Stone!)
If not, it'll certainly be Ed (The Last Of Us S2 trailer w/Future Days also put band/Ed interest through the roof over the weekend🤘).
I hope there's more, but I trust at least this much from the source (because when I was walking away, I saw the name he was texting with on his phone. It said "Ed.")
so you guys already forgot about this tidbit of info just a few weeks ago?
Did not forget about it. First half of the year is a six month window, which means dates could potentially be announced as late as March. No doubt they are entertaining offers from all over and maybe they are working on it during this break. My take is that they use the break as personal time, come home for the holidays after the next leg. Agree this is one of the longer "tours" and history tells us they take a deep breath after it ends. And then worry about planning 2025. I could see that change if they need to commit to a late spring/early summer festival. Somewhere, but no one really knows except the inner circle.
If we get 10 shows in May and then 4 shows in Seattle in the fall I would be very happy. Bummer if SA doesn’t happen. I’d like to see them sprinkle a couple shows around the Seattle residency. Seattle could be back to back weekends although Eddie mentioned Tuesdays, jokingly I’m guessing.

As someone who did his grad work at UM (the long kind), let me just say you'd be missing out on a bunch if you leave Ann Arbor off the table. A2 should be plenty for an undergrad. If that's not enough, Detroit is going through a renaissance and a weekend in Chicago is not far away on the Hiawatha line.

I hope there's more, but I trust at least this much from the source (because when I was walking away, I saw the name he was texting with on his phone. It said "Ed.")
so you guys already forgot about this tidbit of info just a few weeks ago?
Little bird told me something special in May in Seattle ... I guess we'll see ...
Seattle in May sounds lovely... apart from the fact May and september are always the busiest months of the year for me... but i'll make it work.
though Toronto in April sounds way better,
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.
by the way, Sonic Temple's lineup was announced today and no PJ. I know that festival gets mentioned every year, but i can't forsee PJ doing anything Danny Wimmer related.
Sign me up for an Armored Saint > Converge > COC > Deftones > Pearl Jam main stage run
Thank you! Good luck as well! I'll be glad when the acceptance letters come in and a decision is made!

I've never been to Seattle yet, but May 2025 sounds like a great time to visit. PJ35 perhaps ( )? Either way, a Pearl Jam show is what I'm excited for. This 2024 tour was remarkable, and I can't wait to go to more shows.
2021 - 2023 had me saying I might be done traveling for this band... 2024 sent that right out the window... If they're playing in NA in 2025, I'll do everything I can to catch at least one show.
Interesting, exact opposite for me. Fall 2023 run was my favorite since the pandemic. Wish I went to more shows on that tour especially the Austin run. I only saw 2 shows in 2024 but Noblesville was easily my least favorite PJ show of all time.

Agree. The short 2023 run was great, nice balance of songs. 2024 had a lot of predictability at times, especially early on in the tour.

You're not the only person I've heard say that about Noblesville.
Yeah, IDK... I enjoyed the 2 St Paul shows in '23, my first since the pandemic, but I didn't find them all that extraordinary. This year however, they totally pulled me back in.

I didn't make it to any 2023 shows, I'm sure they were great. And 2024 Leg 1 was awesome, but Leg 3 and Ohana Fest were some of the best Pearl Jam performances that I've experienced. Excited to carry that momentum in to 2025. Where they go, I will go. Can't wait

Somewhere, but no one really knows except the inner circle.

cliche at this point, but "If you hate something, don't you do it too"
