A couple of the Chilli Peppers albums are quite long, I quite like them but a trimmed down 12-14 song version would make it a higher quality piece of work. Some of the leftover tracks would make some good b-sides for sure.
I used to feel like that but the more I talked to other fans about these last two RhCp albums, the more I realized that everyone had different favorites. So I love that they release everything they’re passionate about. In this day and age we can always cut it down to our version with playlists.
Yes, that’s very true. I do love the last two releases though, however there are a couple of skippable tracks on Dream Canteen as there are on most albums. We can’t like them all I suppose. I might actually go make an Unlimited Love / Dream Canteen compilation in some sort of album sequence.
Wow Remy Zero is a deeeeep cut. I played Villa Elaine a ton in ‘99
I used to play their first album on my radio show in college in '96. Great stuff. Check out "Twister" and "Descent" from that album if you don't already know them. "Prophecy" from Villa Elaine was one of the best songs of the late '90s.
Just an outsider opinion, nothing more. I think I'm done reading any more reviews until I hear it myself.
All good, being from Australia I have no idea who this Matt Pinfield is, and a number of people on here seemed pretty stoked that he thought the album was a pretty good one. Just curious as to why you didn’t take any stock in this guys review.

I got shit sets up the mood and frustration the band was feeling and the couplet of immortality into long road seems a fitting way to end an album that was originally called Life and whose artwork is centered around wellness, albeit in a distorted way.

But I Got Id & Long Road were recorded after Vitalogy came out, during the sessions for another artist’s album. So you would need Uncle Neil’s permission AND a time machine.
Not sure how this thread has suddenly veared off into retracking vitalogy and no code! Lol. But since it's been brought up, I remember in the summer of 1995 in some rock magazine like Hit Parader or Circus they announced in there that PJ would be releasing a new album that fall and it included a track listing. I remember it being 10 songs, long road and I got shit were both on there as well as All Night. I also remember a track called Tommy Who! I'm kinda assuming that's likely a different title for Who You Are possibly?? Or was it a track that has yet to be released? I really wish I had saved that magazine!!! Edit: I also remember Brain of JFK was also on there! There was definitely some credibility to the article!

I am going to be hanging with Matt on 4/19. Really.
Not elbowing Swifties out the way at a record store whilst yelling at them "I'M NOT GETTING THAT ONE I'M GETTING THIS ONE!"?
Hung with Matt on a Rock N' Roll cruise from 4/18-4/22. Saw him every day and chatted about PJ for about 30 minutes the day this pic was taken. The man is a music encyclopedia and most generous with his time. A highlight of my music life, for certain!
Matt said the Temple of the Dogs shows were recorded and may get released someday
Yes!!!!
That's awesome. Hope things go smooth with the estate dealing with any potential TOTD release as that stuff can be tricky. Tom said there is some unreleased Audioslave stuff in the can too. So hopefully we can look forward to those along with LTL and DOTU reissues and a certain seven tracks.
My friend went to MSG and told me she could have gotten me a ticket-I'd have postponed my Sri Lankan trip to go for sure. That was a gut punch I just felt again now!

They had signs everywhere at MSG about recording, just like Wrigley 2016. I kept waiting to hear about it, and then the sad news that spring came. 😢
