the US tour is about to start so how long the shows will be?

will they keep the new normal 2h/2:15h 1 encore shows or they will be back to 2:20/2:45h 2 encore shows?

personally i would love them going back to 2:20/2:45h 2 encore shows but i dont think thats gonna happen, i think the new normal will be 2h/2:15h 1 encore shows

makes you wonder since its a short tour with a lot of breaks but they may have set their new standard already and don't want to deviate from that.

They ripped the band-aid off on the 2021/2022 shows.   Knew it would be a giant bummer to many of their fans.  No sense going back to the long shows for them.  Days of legendary shows are over, or, on the flipside, that 35 song show will show up at some point again and be a one off.   Another reason to keep chasing.

For now I think we are getting the same format we had last year.  If they ever decide to do stadium shows again, I could see those getting to 30+ songs.

Since its a very short tour, maybe something in-between. Say 26-27 songs

Voting purely based on my heart and the fact its only 9 shows.  I think they might push 2:20/2:30 for a couple extra songs but I think the 1 encore is the new normal.  So secret option 3 not on the poll

While I am hoping for the longer shows, my expectations are that the shows will be close to last year.

I’m guessing same as the bulk of last year, but hoping with the short tour and extra days off we see shows more like the length of Camden 2022 2.5 hours.
Song lengths of sets can be misleading; Lukin, Untitled, Setting Forth, Interstellar Overdrive, Eruption, I’m Open all inflate what the set length looks like. With that said though, I’m hoping they can get to the 25-28 actual song length at 2.5 hours each night.

I say 2:20-2:25. I think we get 25-26 songs consistently. That said it’s not all about how long the show is, although it is a factor. The MSG crowd and the Camden setlist last year were unreal.

Shorter..maybe 2.5 max. I'm wondering if the sit down starts will continue or are we done with those this year and that was just to protect his healing vocal chords last year.

I would guess the same as 2022.  The shows were just long enough to feel like it was a complete show.  Sure I wanted them to keep going but I did not leave feeling "ripped off".  The quality was still excellent IMO.

It is going to be exactly the same as the 2022 shows.

If we are lucky, we may get a couple of “Evening with” shows sprinkled in once every few years, but the new format is here to stay forever

A bit off topic but does anyone know how much of the Camden set was made up from the father and son that won the contest? The whole thing? A couple of songs?

I thought it was just Breath. Which I couldn’t have been happier with. Easily the best setlist of the tour imo.

Yeah Ed said something along the lines of they picked the next song, which was breath.  The setlist that night was great!

And they said Ed offered them a choice between Breath and something else they just didn't pick it random

I’m not expecting much this year but hopefully the next time they tour behind an album: I hope they do something more interesting with the stage next time. They’ve never had the most flashy productions but the “just a few lights” look last year was maybe slightly too pared back.

The more important question to ask is

Will Binaural through Backspacer be completely forgotten about again on this tour?

Would any other bands play any songs from Binaural through Backspacer to a crowd wanting to hear hits? You know the answer.

They’ve never been about extravagant stage set ups I don’t expect them to start now I just like some lights stacks of amps and the band

The St. Louis show was a bummer. Clocked in at 2 hours and it almost felt like they were done but realized it was less than 2 hours so Mike went into Ledbetter.

It was a great show but after waiting for 2+ years would have been even better if it wasn’t so short.

  • 2h/2:15h 1 encore show
Glendale, AZ was 23 songs last year. That's about 90 minutes of music, 20 minutes of Ed talking and another 10 for the encore break. I'd always vote for more music.
