If that doesn’t convince people the Hall is a joke, nothing will.

I fear it'll get worse before it gets better.

At the rate things are going, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and Taylor Swift are shoe-ins. Heck, Justin Timberlake could also be in as a solo artist.
    Taylor is definitely getting in

It would be much cooler to be on Jeff’s shirt than in the RRHOF anyway  =)

Yes.  She’s was a huge inspiration and influence to a generation of female songwriters. Let’s assume things like that matter rather than quibble about whether she’s “rock” or not.

Jeff loses a tad of credibility having The Monkees on there. Maybe we induct the Brady Kids & Jessie and The Rippers while we're at it.

They are too cool for the hall. Besides they blew their chance at the hall when they wrote The Thing That Only Eats Hippies. Making fun of the bands and fans of the era that the hall of fame seems to idolize.

I said it in other music, People get way too hung up on who gets in and who doesn’t every year. Its barely a validation for them and it certainly doesn’t validate your beliefs or liking of these artists.

It’s in the name. ROCK n roll hall of fame. It’s not the “Influenced a new generation of songwriters” hall of fame.

Having said that, I don’t mind Kate Bush and she was an influence on alternative music.  She wouldn’t be in my HOF, but this one is supposed to belong to everyone. I have problems with Willie Nelson and the like, they have their own hall already.

Then again, who cares. I’ll never go see this place anyway.

Iron Maiden got snubbed also -
Which is a way bigger snub than Soundgarden. I love Soundgarden, but their day will come. Maiden's day should've come decades ago.

But whole Rock Hall is a joke. Why not just branch it off and have a separate hip-hop hall of fame? Then it wouldn't be so mind-numbingly stupid that Missy Elliot is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and IRON MAIDEN isn't.

It's an HBO yearly special.  Don't take it so seriously fellas.  My favorite bands are probably never getting in and theyd probably never show up.   The Replacements making the ballot once was like them getting in.  This household plays Missy Elliott an awful lot lol.  She belongs in some kind of hall of fame either way.

Right, and there are about a million rabid Kate Bush fans would say the opposite.  So who’s right?  Who cares?

All of this is moot. Sha Na Na isn't in the Hall and its an illegitimate org until they are. Doesn't matter who does or doesn't get in if they aren't.

Honestly, Kate Bush is one of the most deserving artist to get in on that ballot. Her first album she wrote when she was 15. Most may not like it or accept, but she is deserving to get in.
She got in because of Stranger Things...

I feel like any band other than the obvious first ballot entries are selected mostly if they agree to perform and will move the needle on the telecast ratings.

I might remember this wrong, but I think Thom Yorke purposely scheduled a South American solo tour after being elected simply so there was no way he could be there at the induction.

Every hall of fame has flaw and biases that aggravate their fan bases... Take the NFL for instance... If you played in the 60's or 70's for the Steelers or Cowboys and were decent you got in.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame puts Missy Elliott in, which makes no sense to me, but if she is in, how is Mariah Carey on the outside looking in? It's mind boggling to me that either of them would be in a "Rock and Roll" hall of fame, but Carey's pedigree dwarfs Elliott's.

I think record industry politics is 90% of this... The other 10% really could be that they are running out of rock and roll bands to put in and have to widen their net. Change it to the "Global Museum of Music and Performing Arts" or something and quit the Rock and Roll charade...

She's been nominated several times in the last 5 years, way before Stranger Things was a thing.

No Phish on there either.  Whether you love or hate their music, you cannot deny their impact on live music over the past 35+ years.
