After being gutted by the Deer Creek postponement (live in Indy), I'm seriously thinking of taking the plunge and flying solo to FW2. For some reason, I can't fathom not trying to make an effort to see them this go-around.
My work won't allow me to take PTO during the week in the month of September, so Austin is out. But I work a compressed schedule...and this Friday happens to be my scheduled day off. I booked a R/T ticket on American w/points (get there Fri at 1pm and leave Sat at 3pm) and can cancel up until 11:59 tomorrow night. I'm just curious about the the hotels around the area (have never been to DFW before).
I'm a Hilton person but the properties closest to Dickies (Hilton Garden Inn on 912 Northton Street and Homewood Suites on 2200 Charlie Lane) are sold out. So I was thinking of Embassy Suites on 600 Commerce Street. That location seems closer to downtown and it says it's about an 8 minute or so drive/Uber to the venue. For the locals, is that an "OK" part of the city? Meaning, if I had to walk back to the hotel if no Ubers/Lyfts are available.
And regarding concert seats, I'll buy a premium single if need be but that would be worst case scenario. I'm aware of the "friends don't let friends buy premiums" mantra but I'll do what I have to do to make it happen. I hope the planets align and I can make this work out.

That would be a decent walk you’d have to make but you’d be fine in that area I believe. We’ve been out late around there and had no issues.

  • I feel like this would be in pretty poor taste if the plan was to cancel tomorrow... reason to be hopeful maybe?

  • Well, I’m out for tomorrow.  Thanks for the radio silence, powers that be.

Hope it happens for everyone who is there and I’ll see all y’all on Friday.

Hi all, any recommendation for hotels in the area? I see there is a Hotel Dryce right by the arena, but it is fully booked. I will be coming in from Denver on Thursday to attend night 2 on Friday.
I am staying at the Residence Inn Fort Worth Cultural District. It is a 30 minute walk to the venue or a 7 minute car ride.

    Y'all all are fucking nuts.

It's been 110+ plus degrees here the last week (Houston anyway). You can literally cook an egg on the pavement - it would take 20 min, but you can technically do it.

And it's still going to be near this temp in 3 weeks shy of a miracle or a hurricane....

And you're even considering standing/sitting/whatever on a sidewalk all day to be 20-feet closer to the stage when you could be enjoying a cold beer or relaxing? Wow.

Stop and think about it for a minute. The two times I have had GA, I walked in about 20 minutes before the band went on and been no more than 20-25 ft from the stage. Grabbing a hold of the rail and holding my bathroom breaks for 3 hours, let alone spending a day in the searching Texas heat and risking heat stroke (for those unaccustomed to the heat here) is wild.

But then again, people would call me nuts to attending four shows in a row... Or running 13 miles in this heat twice a week...

    Good luck.

Yeah, I mean if you just HAVE to be on the rail to get a drink of Ed's wine or whatever, go for it at 6 AM. Otherwise, show up at doors and still be 20 feet from the stage. Also, more room at the back of the pit and it sounds better. To each their own, I'm in seats both nights and thrilled not to roast in a GA line
Completely agree on going in at door time and on the back of the pit. I usually get close for the first 45 minutes or so, then hang in the back. And that's what I plan on doing on Friday as well.
I'll see you in the back on Friday, buddy!
Hell yes, man! Text me and we'll meet up for sure!
you got it! I would love to get a beer with you, possibly some record store digging too.

it held up well after all these years, got both movies in on 3:45 min flight… good movies make it better for sure
  • Feeling good with the emails and merch announcements. I know this happened Sunday too before the cancellation but I’m trying to manifest this. Also, anyone else born and raised in FW and geeking out about seeing merch for PJ with the words “Fort Worth” on it?!?! It’s surreal. I know I’ll strike out on getting any of it but I’m sure someone will price gouge me later for it all. Tonight’s gonna be great!
