I’ve managed to make every MSG concert over the years and this one was as good as any of them. I left pretty blown away with their energy and how good the music sounded. The setlist was fantastic and the Gigaton songs were amazing. They sounded like really great setlist staples and vintage Pearl jam as opposed to when I saw them played at SHN.
We were one section over and a few rows behind Venus and Serena Williams. It was cool to see Venus singing along… she’s clearly a fan of the music as she knew the words.
Loved getting Porch early in the set. Sonic Reducer would have been my number one cover request and it was brilliant.
Overall it was an amazing show. We brought our 16 year old and 18 year old and they had such a great time. It wasn’t their first show but I think seeing the energy at MSG made them get what Dad loves about Pearl Jam.
On to Camden and Nashville!

Well said and can’t wait to have this moment with my kids (now 14 / 12) only issue is we may never get a show like that one again! Unbelievable night!!
My first MSG show in the books. What an incredible night. The band was on fire. Release to start is always awesome. My second Garden in 8 days after not getting it since 1994. Comeback, Present Tense into Porch...what an incredible start. Chloe/Crown I never expected. Purple Rain is fun live. That and Who Ever Said were my only firsts this show, but we did get a scratched River Cross which was fine by me. Moving Porch and Betterman around meant we knew RVM was coming and couldn't be happier. The room was packed and the energy was so good all night. Great night in NY.
Loved getting Porch early in the set. Sonic Reducer would have been my number one cover request and it was brilliant.
Said the same thing to my buddy about an early Porch. Really set the tone for where the rest of the night went!
Didn’t have the best seats, but this was my first time sitting behind the stage. I’ve heard it before from people before in the past, but you really get a new appreciation for how fucking incredible Matt Cameron is on the drum kit from behind the stage! Still buzzing from this one - see everyone at Camden! 🙌🏻
Oh man, found out right after the show I had to be up at 430am after getting home around 130am 🤦🏻To Long Island, just drove by msg @ 615am after being there not too long ago 🤦🏻🤦🏻
But I’m running on the juice from last night, I thought it was an amazing night… I’m past over analyzing this year msg vs another year etc etc… just living in the moment, and that was a wonderful one. Felt the emotion of that heart wrenching day…release/ come back got me good. Early Porch was intense, sonic reducer was a jolt.
thank you Pearl Jam for an amazing NY weekend from the baseball game Thursday, being able to attend Apollo & being in GA last night… I’ll never forget it. It’s those moments that make it all worth while, worth working hard for… to have that FEELING
just a fun day being at mustang Harry’s watching the games… lined up in GA around 530, had fun In the lounge area on msg floor…. Came up about 5 people short on license plate & blue hat…. Didn’t push for ga spot, rolled in around 820… got about 12-15 people back from ED & Mike
I’m not from NYC, but was lucky enough to be in the building last night. That was my 16th show, so no expert either, but there’s Pearl Jam in NYC and PJ everywhere else.
From Release to Mike putting the finishing touches on the SSB, the crowd was just electric.
The shorter sets, and I’ve seen 2-3 shows at 2:50 and up that were very good, seem to have the band in excellent form,
My 7th Garden show. Good times but the weakest. Too many hits, seen it all before. Not enough of Gigaton; long gone are the days of challenging the crowd.
The band is also not as tight as they were a decade ago. I just felt Stone and/or Matt not as into it, and there were plenty of mistakes and miscues. The amazing crowd were ahead of them and helping out.
Has Stone been masked all tour? Haven't been following. Not sure I saw him on a microphone as a result.
Where I was (223), Mike seemed low in the mix the first hour, but it may have just been everything a half step down. Sludgy stuff.
Finally, following up the first responders speech with RVM was just a dumb choice. It used to be talking to the crowd would set the tone for the music. I guess as a primarily greatest hits band now this is to be expected.
Great show! Definitely top 5 of my 30+ shows; maybe top 2. The MSG Factor is real. You can take same band playing the same set in MSG or other arena and the MSG one going to be a better experience. Just a different energy than any other venue I've been to and it shows. Great sound all around. The way the venue shaped it feels like you're in an old Roman Coliseum looking at the sections stacked vertically on each other. Always seems to be a symbiotic relationship between the band/fans there that makes everything better. Way different experience than the Apollo show the night before. Of the 4 MSG shows I've been to this seemed to have the best crowd/energy/vibe. Maybe since it was all just waiting to bust out after all the Ten Club fans finally got to use the tickets they'd been holding onto for two and a half years. Very well constructed setlist. No duds. No down moments where people started looking to sit down. Gigaton songs sounded great live and were nicely spaced in between the classic sing alongs (unlike Apollo night before). Release opener never a bad thing. Garden, Present Tense, Porch all in the first 5 songs awesome. Chloe/Crown for the early 90's rarity. Sonic Reducer always great (of the favorite shows I've been to this seems to be an unexpected common denominator). First time seeing Purple Rain and that sounded great with Josh/Eddie trading verses. Mike throwing in Star Spangled Banner at the end reminded me of the Philly 2016 Ten show where they all new they killed it up there and wanted to put the coda on it to cap it all off. MSG/NYC shows always seem to have unrealistic expectations/hype. There always seems to be some expectation of special guests or one of a kind covers. This show didn't need it (except for Chad Smith from RHCP showing up partway through RITFW) and still lived up to the hype.

I think your being off to the side was the issue. They are as tight as they have ever been.

This show BLEW AWAY 2008 and was better than night 2 2016. Nothing will ever match or beat 98 and 2010
Great show, crowd was amazing. But I have to say for a half a second when Ed put on the sparkle jacket I thought they were about to bust our Bushleaguer again.
In the back of the pit there was a guy with a Dead Boys shirt on who had never seen PJ and was a fan club members +1. When the opening riff of Sonic Reducer started, he was in complete shock. After about 20 seconds, he went ape shit as did the rest of the building.
As for the person who said this was the weakest and they weren’t tight, I’d love to have what you’re smoking. They def fucked up even flow, and Eddie fucked up the second verse of GTF, but man they all sound so much better than 2018. Usually I’m the guy that complains about a hits heavy setlist, but last night it DID NOT MATTER. Though, I agree to imagining if Animal or NFY were played.
As I wake up this morning, the only msg shows I’ve missed are 98….last night was top 3 no question. Best crowd since 2010

Totally surprised i had 2 empty seats to my right. Sec. 106 row 12, gave me more room to dance but still unbelievable especially at the prices being asked and an apparent sell out.
I have been fortunate to have attended every single MSG show from 98 on. This had all the energy to be expected, honestly i really can't compare the energy of all of them, so were notable stronger for different reasons, this one was special due to the 911 anniversary and the long wait to see them again. It was great to see the band back at it, they sounded tight. Still trying to get used to 23 song sets and wondering how they can keep it fresh when a lot of material needs replication to keep casual fans happy. NOT hearing Corduroy was a welcome surprise. I kind of felt for a few years they can rest that song a bit.
All in all a great show, probably not my top Garden show but they're really hard to rate.
Looking forward to Camden.

Far be it from me to tell anyone else how to do Pearl Jam, but if you were in the building last night and your takeaway was to nitpick the setlist and complain about too many “hits”, we just live on different planets.
A year ago I had some misplaced expectations about what it would be like to see the band at SHN after all this time. Last night’s Release was just what I’ve been looking for this whole time. I’ll be thinking about that one for a while.
WOW... Had seats in the back, bar stools. Brought the MIL for her first PJ show. Different vantage point. We got Small town played for us, TY!
When they went on after 9PM I knew we were going past 11PM curfew.
Opening w Release, the hair on my arms raised. It's gonna be a good night. When you get Porch the first few songs in you know it will be a good night.
It wasn't good, it was great.
Floor was moving, crowd was amped. Sound was excellent. The Williams sisters were in attendance! Chad Smith came in to play. Ed did Wet Leg's Chaise lounge. Josh brought something else to Purple Rain.
Being in the back you get to see all the stuff that Josh does back there. Not sure what you can see up front as it looks like the stacks are in the way but he is very, very involved. Great backing vocals and he enjoys doing it.
I forget what song it was but Mike came over to Stones side and showered the faithful with picks and it was funny to see about 30 people or so all go down at the same time to grab them and not miss Mike playing in front of them, lol.
Nothing really deep for song selection but it was very steady and kept the crowd engaged. Present Tense killed.
Great show last night! My 24th and 1st ever at MSG. One question - was that John Frusciante during RITFW with Chad Smith? Our seats were on the floor so it was hard to tell but I got this photo.
That’s Josh without his hat 😄
Lol thanks for the clarification! I could hardly see Josh from where we were at so didn’t see him take his hat off!

We were in section 110, 6 rows off the side of the stage and could see a lot of the off stage stuff going on. Chad was there for the whole show. He was sitting on Stone’s side of the stage with Jill and Ed’s older daughter. There was a woman with him that appeared to be his wife or girlfriend. And a couple other dudes who I didn’t recognize. I assumed Chad was sitting on a chair but was surprised to see he had been sitting on a cooler the whole time because when a tech came over he had to stand up so the guy could grab drinks out of it for the band. Mike came down off the stage to grab him for RITFW. Jill bounced back and forth between her spot on the side of the stage and the seats where Venus and Serena were. There was a whole crew of people there she appeared to know very well and they all seemed to be really having a good time.

I was in GA and that show at the start was absolutely on fire. Entire show was Epic. So many cool people around us in the pit. Great energy and vibes all night. Floor of the garden was literally bouncing up and down at points - so wild!!! Eddie and McCready’s energy levels are off the charts.
Energy last night was fantastic. Years of pent-up excitement “released” from the get go. I was pleasantly surprised with the opener assuming they would start slower but it’s my favorite opener for a reason. Sets the tone.
hats-off to the crowd and the band for a wonderful night! Still buzzing!

Buy the bootleg. You won't be disappointed.
