Would love for the band to be more willing to give us a heads up to their plans. I mean if a spring tour is coming would it not make sense to let your fans know instead of spending our hard earned dollars elsewhere we get to spend it on these guys? I never understood the touring strategy from these guys usually being one of the last bands to announce plans and also keep it a secret the whole time.

Fingers crossed there is something. If you add in EV shows those 2017 and 2019 would not be zero (would both be 12 or so). Could this be the worst year yet? Just EV at Innings and Ohana and that’s your lot. Surely not

Agreed, and it’s a bad business decision. Regardless if the band doesn’t care about money, they have people to pay. How you don’t immediately announce another 10 shows in major markets boggles me. Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle, etc. Each one of those shows are sold out, generating $4M in just ticket revenue, and then merch. If they did that, and then took a break, I would completely understand.

The 20-30 shows a year is fine with me. And when they do announce something, everyone is going to be crying about $150 tickets. I’d gladly pay that.

Agreed. It was nice that DC from dropped the line about Tool touring in the fall. Even if that doesn't pan out, letting us know nothing else will be happening in the spring helps.

Technically spring goes until June 20… Ed needs to sell innings fest tickets.  Early March announcement for early may shows lol

Ed doesn't need to sell Innings Fest tickets. Innings Fest needs to sell Innings Fest tickets.

They just wrapped up a tour in the Fall so Spring always seemed unlikely to me.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Smashing Pumpkins / Jane’s Addiction April Australia dates were just released.  Klinghoffer will be unavailable the last 3 weeks of April.

The spring tour is 99% dead
I'll start by saying, I really like Josh K., but do we really think they wouldn’t tour because he isn’t available?

That being said, I do agree that chances of a Spring tour seem extremely unlikely.
The question isn’t necessarily “would Pearl Jam tour if Josh wasn’t available?”; it’s more like “would Josh agree to do a Jane’s Addiction tour if Pearl Jam was planning an overlapping one?”
Josh isn't going to tie his career to PJ.  He is a young man.  PJ are old men. I think he will try to be as out there as much as possible to land a gig in a band.  He is way too talented to not be an actual member of a band and not just a touring guy.  I could be wrong, I don't know the guy.
Perry Farrell is also an old man.

I don’t know Josh either, and I suppose there could be any number of reasons why he might prefer doing tour dates as a fill-in with a 90’s nostalgia act instead of doing tour dates as a fill-in with…uh, Pearl Jam. And it’s also possible that Pearl Jam has thanked him for his service and let him know that he’s not going to be part of any touring plans going forward. But his joining the JA tour is definitely a data point in favor of the conclusion that no Pearl Jam plans are imminent.

    Agree.

DMB is playing Innings Fest Tampa and announced their tour.
Pitbull is playing Innings Fest Tampa and has another show booked 2 hours away in Ft Myers.

Him playing at Innings Fest has nothing to do with any announcement or lack of, unless he cut a different deal with the promoters.

Play a sprinkling of shows, take a year off.  Rinse, repeat.  That's how it's been for a long time....and is still hard to get used to!

Agreed.  But, Innings Fest might have a clause in the contract with Ed about no additional Ed/PJ news before a certain date or a sellout.  Doubtful, but possible.

Exactly.  There is nothing to make up from the Covid break.    Their crew can work on other tours and get paid.  They probably enjoyed not touring during COVID.

We now have a long history of this band we love that "can't wait to get back out there and play live to it's fans" (paraphrasing from covid) of having little interest in touring and little to no interest in giving its hardcore fans a heads up for planning.  Thats just the way it is. We will get what they give us and like it! :)

It's a shame there's another wasted touring year in the works.  You would think the drive to perform would be higher after the COVID delay and cancelled shows.

Yes, they toured in '22 with 30+ shows, they also toured the year before, '21, for a little 4/5 dates.

I hope they will record their new record in spring.

Further to my theory, Innings just sent out a “tickets available” email that promoted it as the only announced EV show of 2023.  It’s absolutely possible they negotiated the contract accordingly, to be able to make that statement.

I consider myself a realist/pessimist hybrid, but to be an optimist - if they marketed that as Ed’s only “announced” show (albeit announced, not official), maybe that implies less ED solo shows because of PJ shows in the works.

Innings Fest is in Arizona and we know Ed will soon be announcing his Ohana appearances in Southern California. I think that is the only announcement Innings is trying to get out in front of.
