Now I remember why I didn’t give soccer much more than a passing interest. A sport that is SO over defensive in nature, just way too many players for the size of the field, has its biggest international tournament that’s only played ever four years decided by a near empty net high scoring goal kicking contest. At least do a sevens or something similar before going to the absurd penalty kick contest.

Might as well shoot some baskets or pool to decide the winner. I mean, do they have somewhere important to be to end the match early, when they can not decide a soccer match by actually playing something that resembles real soccer? 

Watch some NHL, when the playoff game is tied, they’ll play til 3am if need be when elimination is on the line. THATS championship sports.

I have to be honest, I’d never heard of Gonçalo Ramos before today. The first hat trick of this World Cup, on his first start for Portugal. He won’t forget this game.

Watch hockey all the time my favorite to watch but when the World Cup is on I’m glued to tv! World class soccer is a beautiful sport to watch, FIFA changed the rules I’m not sure what year but they did in regards to extra periods.

In NHL they play till 3am because nothing is happening after 3rd period. Teams get ultra defensive under pressure. Players stop skating. Referring is different in the playoffs and can't even get a 2 minute penalty. I went to one of these 3 OT. It's exhausting. Couldn't get s train back. My wife wanted to kill me.

That was an epic game one for the ages Netherlands gave it all they had! That 1st penalty kick is so important and Messi is the best at it..

yeah that was an exciting game to watch. COuld have gone either way although in OT Argentina pretty much dominated. PK shootout was pretty exhilarating

Yeah the emotion’s from the Dutch was evident so crushing but to see Messi doing this is pretty special too!
