Both BS and LB were mixed bags on here. With a slight shift towards people thinking LB was a step up.

There were lot of people not enjoying The Fixer and hating the video, when it was released, and only got a bit calmer when Got Some followed.

Remember when people who have heard the album before said that Sirens was a new Black? Good times.
I put BS at the bottom but there are still some good songs on there. I can't say I cared for the way that record sounded though. Just flat to me.

LB was definitely a step up in my opinion. Gigaton a bigger step up.

Always despised Sirens. Music to jump off a building to.
    LOL

Thought Sirens was fantastic live too, they added an outro on the 2014 tour that was top notch.

The Haves however, just name your building ;)

    I loved SIrens live too.

But only played once in 2018, if I remember correctly. So who knows what Pearl Jam thinks of it.

Spending some time with the lyrics - fuck, Ed really knocks it out of the park again.

Lots of themes of hope, togetherness, love. Very much needed now. But without being corny.

I love that Invincible encourages togetherness and love in the face constant division.

    .....

I double that because I really like your thoughts and descriptions of each song :) ... but for today I go for invincible and the great sum up you gave, - my melody and hope for tonight, thanks!
Aw thank you! I hope Invincible brought you what you were looking for yesterday evening. :)

I’m connecting to and loving it more on every listen.  As usual EV lyrics speak to my heart and many of the songs seem to be exactly what I needed right now. Loving all of the songs.  Good and evil just rocks and I love the anger (need to get that shit out!) and I love the sound of the song.

@OceansJenny I’m with you on falling more for the album as I delve into the lyrics.
It get keeps getting better as you digest each piece!

For people asking "why wasn't X song on a PJ album" or "this song should have been PJ" - Earthing was essentially co-written by Andrew. A lot of the guitar/bass is his writing. Now, he is heavily influenced by PJ so it is a bit iterative in that respect. But you can't bring those projects to PJ unless you want to add him to the band or as a writer.

Just shoveled some super bowl snow, was too drunk after the game & im working from home today… had my earbuds in, was a good listen. Music so essential to get me to get up & move, love it!
  • I haven't heard the new album in its entirety but each track I've heard is good and has an interesting sound, for example "Mrs. Mills" sounds like its influenced by a later Beatles song.

  • It seems universal that the more listens you give a record the more you tend to like it or find yourself jamming to songs you didn’t initially like.

    Funny how it can go

1st spin- meh a few decents
2nd spin- oh ok not shabby a few loves
3rd spin- ya know this is a really solid album
4th spin- damn I actually love bunch of songs
5th spin- alright almost every song is money wtf
10th spin- one of greatest albums of all time haha

    gotta love music

It's pretty much closing in on being, a Beatles pastiche. With the subject matter, it's obviously meant to have an air of Beatles.

Not to mention that for me at least and I think most people, reading the lyrics and really diving into the words also helps a lot in terms of connecting with the songs

I heard Jeff in an interview a little while back said he had gotten the record from Ed and was looking forward to listening and reading the lyrics. Something he does every time on first listen with new records. Helps so much

Yeah that’s Ringo on the drums, it’s meant to sounds very Beatles-esque. I love it so much

as for picture, it does sound very Elton but so far it hasn’t grown on me much yet. Not terrible but certainly no Mrs. Mills
  • Picture is PITCH PERFECT POWERFUL POP

Pearl Jam could have recorded a follow up to Riot Act at Abbey Road first, and continuing the "all you need is love"-lyrical referencing a bit more before moving on to somewhat clumsy metaphors involving physical Beatles artifacts.

My two favorite albums of the past few months side by side…

  • I would say it's just "okay."  The only four 'ipod worthy' tracks on it for me are Power, Fallout, Good, and Rose.

I've finally listened to it a few times, and I am digging it. I'm not big on most of the band's solo albums - they're usually good, but I find myself bored by the end of the album, as all the songs seem to sound the same. Each member of the band is very talented, but it's when they're talents play off each other that they really shine. This album feels more like a "full band" album, and that makes it much more listenable start to finish. It's a different sound (clearly drawing on some musical influences), but it's thoroughly enjoyable. When "Mrs. Mills" comes on, I'm surprised - and a little saddened - that the album is almost over. I would LOVE to see PJ play "Invincible" live.

BTW, anyone who really likes "Try" should give the band Kingsley Flood a listen.

My EV album rankings go in order of release. Cool album I can tell its very influenced by Bruce and Tom Petty - some cool tracks.  Its a fun listen, but wont be in rotation as heavy has ITTW or Ukulele Songs.

No. I think he is more of a touring member of the Earthlings at this time. Also, all bass was played by Andrew Watt, except Good and Evil where Josh played it and Power of Right where both Andrew and Josh played it.
words seem so out of place.
