I wonder what the impact of banking sanctions on Putin on the ritz will have on POOTWH’s ability to stay solvent?

Nice loophole Putin has find. As long as he fucks with countries that are not strictly in NATO then he is safe. And he will still die rich as fuck and in a nice comfy king sized bed.

Kramer was right. The Ukraine is weak and feeble. How the hell is it even possible that their capital city may "fall" by tonight? I understand Russia's army is twice as big....but still.

Overall... Biden's press conference stumbled a bit.  If he wants to seem like he 'means business' to Putin and the rest of the world.. he should have treated this press conference as such.   Seemed like any other Q&A session and you could tell from the journalist's questions that they even felt he wasn't quite rising to the elevation of the situation.

What does it also mean in terms of how much has been invested by western allies to Ukraine's defense.  I know a lot of it is optics and politicking... but if we've spent 100s of millions... if not billions in support of Ukraine's defense... what did that buy?

I don't think many countries have military capabilities that could take on big countries like the US or Russia.

If someone wanted to attack Canada I bet they could just walk in and take over our capitals.  We barely have a military, and our infrastructure is limited.

The only saving grace is our giant land border with the US.  The US wouldn't want a foreign country to get a foothold in north america, so they'd probably come help us out of self interest. Then we could get stuck in the crossfire.

Unfortunately I think a lot of countries are vulnerable if someone ever wants to truly go through them.

Like any war, the people have to want to fight. The US got their asses handed to them in Vietnam because the people were committed to their cause. Similar to the Afghans, giving them weapons means nothing if they don't have the people willing to stand up when someone shows up on their doorstep. Dictators often are better at military moves because of the diehard commitment to the cause. Economic sanctions mean little to them at this moment.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Sadly, there are many Americans struggling to make it right now with the rising cost of inflation. This conflict will only increase gas prices which will increase the cost of everything. How dare these Americans worry about how they're going to fill their gas tanks or put food on the table for their families.

Absolutely. The U.S. would never allow an invasion of Canada, and probably Mexico too for that matter. We have it made being separated by the ocean from Europe and Asia and not having to deal with the bullshit over there.

You're right that it's a tall order for a smaller country with limited military capabilities to defend against something like Russia. But this was all pretty imminent for weeks now, right? How could they have not been more prepared?

I would've loved if Biden just responded, "Yeah, no shit."

Also, as talked about on the tee vee, that I'm critical here of Biden saying his sanctions would be harsher than hitting them in the wallet with the SWIFT system. Hopefully they realize this is one of the many times the press is good and take the criticism and use it.

Ukraine has a sizeable army on paper though... and I would imagine is using everything to protect themselves. But what do I know...it's not a videogame...

This would seem more sincere if this was ever a concern on a daily basis or when it came to policies changing to actually help those suffering legitimate financial hardships. Let's be real, this mostly is an annoyance to upper middle class white people. Any other time there's a concern about economic impact on lower middle class, the comments about handouts and the evil job stealing immigrants argument comes up.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Additional full blocking sanctions on Russian elites and their family members: Sergei Ivanov (and his son, Sergei), Andrey Patrushev (and his son Nikolai), Igor Sechin (and his son Ivan), Andrey Puchkov, Yuriy Solviev (and two real estate companies he owns), Galina Ulyutina, and Alexander Vedyakhin.

The democrats are trying to spend more money than we have which is the cause of inflation. Regardless of whatever you say, the answer is both parties.

It is just hilarious they're talking about markets and gas prices.
Ssdly 70% of Americans only give a shit bout this & their 401k
Sadly, there are many Americans struggling to make it right now with the rising cost of inflation. This conflict will only increase gas prices which will increase the cost of everything. How dare these Americans worry about how they're going to fill their gas tanks or put food on the table for their families.
Guess which party wants to raise taxes on those struggling free loaders?
The democrats are trying to spend more money than we have which is the cause of inflation. Regardless of whatever you say, the answer is both parties.
