Before a man killed at least four people Wednesday at a hospital in Tulsa, there had already been 231 mass shootings this year in the United States, according to the Gun Violence Archive. It is the twentieth since last week’s shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Tex., left 19 children and two teachers dead.

Mass shootings, where four or more people — not including the shooter — are injured or killed, have averaged more than one per day so far this year. Not a single week in 2022 has passed without at least four mass shootings.

Sad, isn't it?  We've always had an element of stupid and racist, but those elements seem to be spreading faster than a pandemic.

You know what's really pathetic?  I am beginning to feel slightly jaded about shootings.  Don't get me wrong- every one is a bummer- but it's gotten to the point where it's just the mass shootings that I give much attention to.  Why?  Because just in Sacramento, California alone (the closest city to where I live- about 45 minutes from here), in Sacramento alone, in the first 4 months of 2022, there were 132 shooting incidents.  That averages a little over one a day.  One shooting every fucking day in one fucking town in America.  What more can I say?

$32B in cost to the taxpayers to buy back 20M AR15s at $1,600.00 per bang. Let's do it over 3 years. Ban the production, importation and sale now and possession within 3 years with a buy back.

If you can't possess an AR15, are you unable to defend yourself or shoot coyotes, raccoons, foxes, gophers, rattlesnakes, alligators, bears, wolves, Sasquatches or feral pigs with the firearms still available to you and would you consider such a ban and buy back a violation of your 2A?

    Or

Just give every baby born in the US an AR15 when they get their SS#?

I know words are so hollow these days, but that is literally chilling.

Brian’s flow chart covered this, it’s not a gun issue, it’s a mental health issue and they should stop using innocent children for political propaganda.

When I’m in the office, two on my lunch crew are loyal GOP voters. They believe this with full force. There is no getting thru to them.

Related to what I said yesterday above, this is from a NY Times article this morning:

"Shootings that kill multiple people are so common in this country that they often do not even make national news. They are a regular feature of American life. Tulsa has become the latest example — yet another gun crime that seems almost ordinary here and yet would be extremely rare in any other country as wealthy as the U.S."

Yet it happens again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and...

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

Do they really think that the US has such markedly worse mental health than basically every other country in the world?

Usually because it was with a handgun and not an AR.  The AR story is newsworthy and a handgun is not.
