So speaking of spicy what cities that have not been hit in awhile would you love to see get the arena show treatment this spring/fall?
    Louisville!
    I agree.
PJ management have said twice that they’re never playing Louisville because they don’t like the ticketing practices of the arena.
What do they do differently? I can’t imagine it could be worse than TM for the Earthings tour.

Maybe it’s not a Live Nation venue?

Good thread on Louisville and why it likely won’t get a show.

One thought I’ve had regarding this tour….

Will this be the year where the setlist variability starts to decrease?  I don’t think they’ll do 30+ song nights regularly anymore.  The sets are all going to be Gigaton heavy.  Between that, the 5-7 hits they play every night, plus the inevitable covers and Earthling songs that’ll find their way onto the setlist, how much variety can we expect?
I was thinking about this too. Especially seeing how static these Earthling shows have been (including Dirty Frank). Plus the SHN and Ohana sets weren't remarkably different, granted festival sets. With that said - Ed was talking about PJ's setlists on Smartless and he seems very aware that a number of people catch half a dozen+ shows on tour because of the variety of experience. I would expect sets to be Gigaton heavy but still quite unique and yes probably fewer 30+ marathons
I seriously doubt that there will be any Earthling songs on the PJ setlists.  Maybe in a few years, but not now.
I agree. Not too many of these songs I’d want to replace with a PJ song during a show. Not that I dislike the album, maybe PJ playing it would make me like it more

Not trying to drag the thread down but interesting reading the fan views who felt like Josh’s absence made a significant impact from Chicago N1 to N2 on quality of songs and setlist.

They’ve probably got really, really good seats that go to University of Louisville season ticket holders that they don’t wanna give to 10c. I’ve got a friend who’s a Predators season ticket holder and he gets 10th row to any concert at the arena. When PJ announced the Nashville show the best he could get was upper deck behind the stage.

Ed’s comment of “see you in the summer” at the end of his second Chicago show makes me think it’s Wrigley again. Always seemed likely but now it feels like a certainty. If the UC was the plan, as originally thought for the second leg of 2020, we’d expect that to be a Fall show. I really hope UC doesn’t get the axe. Wrigley is fun but getting repetitive.

Very true usually but when was the last time he said something along the lines of see you in a couple of months? This is not like he is saying see you next year like he sometimes does and more specific to a season in the same calendar year. Has to mean Wrigley to me is happening.

  • Yeah, I wouldn’t read entirely to much into what Ed said. Then again, Jeff got interviewed by Preston and Steve on WMMR a few weeks back and he kept saying they have a bunch of stuff “penciled in” for the US this year and that they were finalizing some stuff, and that Ed is basically testing the waters. But after the announcement of the Baltimore show, it makes me think that maybe the dates are finalized they are just waiting to announce them. Possibly after the Earthlings tour. Who knows though you can never tell with PJ.

Interesting, I'm sure that is right. Hard to complain too much since they've hit Chicago as much or more than any other city over the last decade. But Wrigley is a terrible concert venue. Hopefully I will be able to swing travel to an arena show or two.

I think this is the most likely. That said, he could have been hinting at a Chicago show this summer, I just don't like seeing people get their hopes up based on reading into a comment at the end of a show.

Speaking of getting hopes up, here's my prediction fit three dates based on nothing but my own pessimism:

    Toronto May 4th
    Nashville May 21st
St Louis May 23rd (these last two might swap)

These are the 3 shows we have tickets to. My wife is getting her Masters. Last class is May 4th, graduation is May 22nd. So, I'm calling it right now that we won't be able to make it to any of them.

Could still be on the 23rd, with St Louis on the 21st. I hope I'm wrong, I'm just gearing up for this to avoid crushing disappointment.
