That's my thought, and would make Toronto work much better for me

Finally, thanks for checking in PJ!  Let the date speculation and rough planning begin!

So looking at the 2020 vs. 2022 calendar, the first NA show was scheduled for Wednesday, March 18th, 2020 and the last (17th) was scheduled 32 days later on Sunday, April 19th, 2020.

If they start in early May and conclude with enough time to get packed up and in Europe for the June 14th show, and try to replicate the 2020 timeframe, including day of the week the shows were on, and same days off between shows, then below would be the schedule (1st show - Wednesday, May 4th...32 days later...last (17th) show - Sunday, June 5th):

    *** NOT CONFIRMED...JUST MY BEST GUESS ***

(if anyone has info on the venues already being booked for something else these days, please comment)

    01) Toronto - 5/4
    02) Ottawa - 5/6
    03) Quebec City - 5/8
    04) Hamilton - 5/10
    05) NYC - 5/12
    06) Baltimore - 5/14
    07) NYC - 5/16
    08) Nashville - 5/19
    09) St. Louis - 5/21
    10) OKC - 5/23
    11) Denver - 5/26
    12) PHX - 5/28

    14) LA - 6/1
    15) LA - 6/2
    16) Oakland - 6/4
    17) Oakland - 6/5
That is quite the heavy schedule for this band as of recent.

Skipping Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago and Seattle won't make any more sense in 2022 than it did in 2020.

wouldn't they go home before Europe? How long do they usually get in between US and Euro tour??
like a week or two? I'm assuming

they won't be skipping Philly.  I would think ballpark show possibly but I suspect will be dates in 2022 for sure.

anyone think they will do a 2nd NA leg? I mean, they have to, right? Fall?

Also, wouldn't the band take at least a week or two in between before heading to Europe?

Who says that the rescheduled dates will all happen before Europe? They only said they will start in May
Well, May usually comes before June, when the Europe dates are already scheduled for ;)

But no one says that they will play all of the reschdeduled US dates before Europe. Maybe some of them in late July/August. This would allow also additional dates.

Then again I realized that the original 2020 tour was almost exactly a month from start to finish. I remembered the shows were over 6 weeks or so.

i mentioned the other day, maybe a full year tour as ed mentioned a "long Gigaton tour was planned". I could see a late summer stadium tour and ending it at Ohana late September. That's my guess.

Wondering if mrk2 is right that “starting in May” doesn’t have to mean all 16 shows (+ Apollo) before Europe.  It could mean that, but it doesn’t have to mean that.  Why is everything such a mystery around here!

I would bet on you being correct. I don't want to get into math and stuff, but it would be close to impossible for them to reschedule this tour using the same arenas without expanding the amount of time. There are just too many variables to solve for. The original plan was something like: LA, Oakland, Toronto, NYC and then fill in the cities in between with some arenas that are available (Ottawa, Baltimore, etc.). They now have a list of arenas they have to hit in a route that makes sense taking into account limited open dates. Logistically, they reschedule the dates and fill in some holes with some added shows to make it make sense $$$ and routing wise.

Any chance they're moving these to May to switch around some venues and play some/all of these outdoors?

Doing all 16 shows in May/early June still gives them nearly two weeks before the Euro leg.  They had planned on 16 shows in 33 days for 2020. Nothing to say they can't do it again.

Will the NBA/NHL attempt to work around concerts that are scheduled prior to the playoff schedule being announced? Or is it vice versa? I remember them getting bumped in Toronto one year but it doesn't seem to be a common occurrence.
