    The video game that has:

    "Notices bulges OwO what’s this?"

    and

"If you read this you are gay LMAO"

So you think its a coincidence that the quote he chose to use from a video game used the word "fascist" and assassinate a far right political figurei?
If some nut decides to shoot AOC and writes "libtard" on the bullet, that's just a coincidence that they chose to quote Halifax's signature on the bullet?
I have no doubt that it was a quote from a game.
I also have no doubt it was a quote carefully selected for his target. I'm kinda baffled there are so many that seem to say "it's just a video game quote" and don't understand the messaging behind it. It can be a quote from a game and be a message to his political target at the same time.

Sure, mace. Sure. Totally the same. And its "Libtardaplorable" not "libtard."

Thats not what free speech is. You can't celebrate or openly mock the cold murder of someone and expect your employer to be okay with that. That's not what free speech is.
    Did Kimmel mock the murder?
No. But that question was plural and has been asked here since before Kimmel got suspended. Of all the other people, teachers, analysts, anchors, etc who made insensitive comments that their employers don't like, they are not protected by free speech.
I guess for me it comes down to when should and does your employer have a legal right to terminate you for what you say or do in your personal life. Some of these firings are insane. It's not even people gloating or mocking, it's people just expressing that they aren't mourning his death because of the person he was. Ok, so what? How are the people who screamed about having to wear a mask and government overreach now not also speaking out? What a bunch of idiotic hypocrites.

Kimmel was fired by Disney due to pressure exerted by the fcc on a group of affiliates seeking a merger. The govt is using its power to silence speech and it’s wrong. He didn’t speak about CK directly. He only said the right was manipulating it to score political points. He should have known to not bring it up so close to the murder, but didnt deserve this. The FCC chairman has said many times this abuse of power is wrong.( Edit, but when trump is his boss, freedom of action is zero.)

Not that the woke left wouldnt do the exact same thing if they could on college campuses as they try to silence speech related to actions their universities take. They’d silence that speech in a hot minute if they had the power.
If he made that comment Tuesday or Wednesday it would have been different. He made that comment several days after it was well known to not be true. I think that was the bigger issue.
I agree the FCC shouldn't have gotten involved, but I wouldn't have been surprised if there was some sort of consequence. I was expecting a forced apology, not a suspension.
what did he say that wasn't true?
“The Maga gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” he said.

It was well known he wasn't Maga by then. You can't hear that and tell me you don't see the implications that he's calling the shooter Maga. This was a perfect example of an accusation being an admission of guilt. He was doing his best to point the finger and score political points, when the identify was actually well known by then.
To be fair when I first read it I thought he was trying to say the shooter was MAGA which is stupid.  BUt as I read it again and again, I don't think he was saying that.  I hear him saying they are willing to categorize him without any information so long as it is anything but MAGA.  A very different statement.  I wonder which way he meant it.
    Agreed
That is how I heard it and why I'm confused by the controversy. What he said is 100% accurate. They did immediately blame the left and made it all political to score points for their team. The biggest perpetrator being the divider in chief.
This is definitely a both sides issue. The left were claiming Maga on day 1 too. People quoting the grandma and the family as saying they are all a tight conservative family and the kid lives at home with his parents. Don't know where any of that information came from.
There were several posts jumping all over Leddbetterman when he first shared news stories of the boyfriend, which turned out to be accurate and true. So this was definitely going both ways of trying to place blame and not accepting the data as it was coming in.
"the left claiming maga on day 1" were people on facebook.
maga blaming the left were politicians, people on tv, and THE PRESIDENT.

    these are not the same.
We can all agree trump is not the gold standard to achieve in leaders.

But think back to what we knew within a few hours of the shooting. We knew he wrote "Hey Fascist, catch" on the bullet he used to assassinate one of the most well known far right public figures. I had a very, very strong suspicion he would not turn out to be Maga, but in fact from the left. I didn't say anything because nothing official was released. But it's not a stretch for people to come out and put that together and make a case to tone down the language used against the right as they did.

Meanwhile, mainstream media is making comments like it could have just been a celebration gone wrong that killed him and reported that phrase was from a video game and the word "fascist" was just satire.
Even as of yesterday CNN reported we have no idea what the motive is, despite the fact that we have text messages from the shooter himself saying why he did it. As of now they are still reluctant to say the obvious that the shooter was motivated by Kirk's views on transgender and other far right ideas and the shooter's relationship with his partner. So while it might not be coming from the politicians on the left who are still denying the obvious, it's still coming from people with a lot of influence and a big platform.
that was one idiot on MSNBC that said the celebration shit, and I denounced it as stupid and fireable immediately.

We STILL don't know that he's left. So why should CNN say he is? There is an alternate theory that he thought Kirk was a traitor to the far right movement.

and many are questioning the validity of those texts. I have to say, I'm one of them. Not because it implicates him as a lefty, I have already stated I couldn't care less if he is or not. If he is, MAGA jumps on it. If he isn't, MAGA deflects and it doesn't matter anyway and that's the chosen narrative.

Like, a full on confession of everything he did? in correct sentence form? Zero young adults, ESPECIALLY GAMERS, text that way. It's all too easy and with a nice little bow on top.

Further, if a private bakery can deny baking a wedding cake to a gay couple, why can’t a private company hire to have the diversity of staff that is a more accurate representation of society. Sorry, but white males aren’t the only humans that exist.

Because they are judging applicants or current employees based on gender and/or color of skin, not absolute skill nor qualifications.

picking what type of product you wish to sell has nothing to do with measuring the skills and performance  of your employees.

Your anecdotes are getting more and more horrible. Time for some self reflection how you judge people?
Skill and qualifications are absolutely the first hoop they went through before factoring race/gender.

you think they hired someone who couldn't do a job because they needed to check a box? Sounds like they aren't very good at managing. That would be a bigger issue to me.

If a large corporation has a quota system or targets that they need to meet, I can assure you the senior leaders who are making these decisions and representations to the public and ensuring that they meet their targets, have little knowledge of skill level of the majority of their employees, based on corporate structure and how they are cutting down middle mgmt. At least in my experience in the companies that I have seen where this has happened. Anything perceived as a close call is going in the favor they want it to be, and they're going to blur all the metrics to fit it to how they want the facts to be perceived.

If you haven't lived it, if you haven't seen it, I'd hold off on being certain I understand what companies are doing to reach their targets.

Or just read what John Robert said in Students for Fair Admission v Harvard. He references inescapable facts on this general topic

The only thing consistent around here is the lack of understanding. Consensus, it’s a thing.

Go to your next management meeting and demand to go back to rotary phones and tri-copy forms and paper in file cabinets. Then stamp your feet, pout and try to sabotage any initiative leadership is promoting. See how long you last. Then, while waiting for your unemployment benefits to kick in, write a book complaining about how your company isn’t a big tent company willing to listen to alternative ideas.

And I thought it was, “if you’re not with us, you’re with the terrorists?”
Also consistent is your bad analogies.
    How so?
You make an example of wanting to go back to archaic means and methods while getting fired for them yet you state that you got fired for the company not listening to alternative ideas.

Being anti-woke is not sending us back into the stone age no matter what Trump tries to undo. Some setbacks for sure but not square 1.

This is where I thought you were going with this.
I've never been fired from a job.

My analogy was a you as in general you, and the comparison was Manchurian wanting coal to be king again, despite the dem leadership and caucus wanting to go green, not to mention public polling, and a hypothetical of an employee wanting to go back to the old, outdated method of doing business. Coal, and by extension fossil fuels to some degree (we'll never eliminate all needs/uses), are the past, while solar, wind and fusion are the future. Manchurian threw a hissy fit when his desired outcome was rejected by dem leadership and the caucus.

so you’re  admitting you’ve never been targeted by DEI quotas?

the problem with your united airlines quota example  is exactly that. When they do a restructure they will look to their quotas for employment decisions. Perhaps Pear Jam should try out DEI quotas also if they’re so great?

I hear dolly parton can still sing?
Not that I’m aware of and if I were, oh well, I’m a white male with bestowed privileges and rights, many of which women and minorities don’t enjoy. If I were, I wouldn’t piss and moan about it but pick myself up by my bootstraps and try, try again.

Reorganizations, restructuring and related staffing are dictated to some degree by union rules as in seniority in the flight attendants and pilots unions. Last hired, first fired.

I’m guessing you’ve never worked in a union environment as a union member?

Pearl Jam doesn’t need a singer. They need a drummer. Can Dolly play the drums to the PJ catalog?

So we agree they better hire Brian Blade, or they are hypocrites if they dont denounce DEI?

A little absurd bringing up unions which represent 6% of workers in private sector

so to answer the question, you have zero idea what it’s like, but refuse to listen to the other side whatsoever and perhaps learn something . Smart.

I’d love for PJ to hire a qualified black drummer just so I could enjoy the MAGA meltdown, cancellation of memberships and my potential moving up in the order. Maybe the drummer for The Roots is available?

Maybe there need to be more union membership. I have zero idea about what? Being a victim of DEI? Are you a victim?

Does it matter? Suffice to say I've seen it from a close enough distance. I've seen large corporations use remote working to shift people around into new roles and getting rid of experienced people in those roles, something they could not do before remote working. I've seen them put names side by side and figure out ways to benefit certain individuals with less relevant experience. It's literally the mirror image of you referencing a resume with a *certain name on it.

If your politics requires you to not believe people who are speaking the truth, then what value are your opinions... that you are putting these ridiculous footnotes on?

Your lived experience does not equal the “norm” or “majority.” And why should I believe the guy who can’t articulate a single thought without copying and pasting AI? Just because you claim it so doesn’t mean I have to believe it or accept it as truth or reality. Let me ask, if you’re such a victim of DEI, have you retained an attorney and filed a discrimination lawsuit? Filed an EEOC complaint? Looked for another job, maybe relocated?

What is wrong with your politics that you can’t recognize absolute truth and facts like the US’s long sordid history of treatment of minorities, from it’s inception to today, and the attempt to right past wrongs, or things like Israeli genocide in Gaza? I think I know why, it’s easier to play victim and blame others for your situation. I’d give you some advice but I’d be wasting my time.

News flash, corporations doing things to jettison employees and figuring out who to let go during times of downsizing and efficiency gains has been happening since the creation of corporations. How did society ever continue to function?

I don't even think it should really matter what side of the political spectrum he was on when he assassinated someone. He's a fucking nut either way. The problem is not where he stands. The problem is the reaction to the assassination by the right. Period. Some "inappropriate" or "insensitive" comments from the left don't come close to comparing to the immediate reaction from the right, right up to the President himself.

He used to articulate his own thoughts until you alluded to the fact that he’s a xenophobic person each time.

I understand you denounced it. I’m just saying how weird the media has been playing this out too. It’s not just him. Now they’re saying how sweet and romantic those texts were. It’s all just so weird. My point is they can’t just say “he was a nut job that went down a far left rabbit hole that doesn’t represent the moderate left.” I agree with pjsoul and others who say it doesn’t matter. But there’s a weird spin and it’s not just the right who’s writing a narrative.
I agree those texts seem weird. But I believe them for one reason. They’d be too easy to disprove. And then the whole case blows up, everyone involved in making up evidence is ruined, the families make millions in a lawsuit, etc. very small gain but massive risk.
