You guys are right. Every comment Biden makes is made in a vacuum and deserves to be criticized as such.

    Good stuff.
so we have to compare everything he says to Trump? why not compare him to Obama, or Reagan, or any other president? or just judge his comments on their own merit. imagine that.
    Cincy brought up trump.

I suggested comparing it to the insane rhetoric coming from the GOP in general right now.

But never mind that. Everything happens in a vacuum, and needs to be judged accordingly. Let's nit-pick things said by Biden while the GOP sucks off Vladimir Putin and steers us towards authoritarianism.

Let's keep whistling past the graveyard.

yeah, kind of the same thing. why is everything a "well he said THIS so that negates what my guy said"? it shouldn't be. both can be discussed on their own merits. it doesn't always have to be a contest. that's the shit they're pulling people into, talking about stupid sound bites instead of fucking policy.

but if you want to just continue to stomp your feet "I'M RIGHT", have at er.

Was Obama compared more often to Bush 41 or Bush 43? It was Bush 43 since he was his predecessor. I don't understand why people want to just ignore Biden's predecessor, especially since he is likely going to run again in 2024. So Not comparing Biden to Trump makes no sense.
because trump changed the game. comparing anything he says to anything biden says is like comparing a donkey to einstein. if we continue to do that, biden can literally be critiqued on NOTHING.

and it's turned into just flapping gums talking about what a politician says instead of what they do.

JFC, I'm not comparing it to what happened 2 or 4 years ago, I'm holding it up against what's happening right now, every day.

But never mind, you're right Hugh, everything happens in a vacuum and should be dissected accordingly. Carry on.

If Trump was normal and just went away after losing, you might have a point. But the guy has been holding campaign rallies ever since he left and is likely running again. Trump gives us no choice but to compare Biden to him. These are not normal times, pretending they are is political malpractice.

I brought up trump to try and steer people away from the exact responses I got "oh yeah but what about trump!!"  "what about the GOP!!!"

I tried to include it so people understood that I understood trump was worse....and this is not on that level.  However I still thought it was worthy to mention since Biden did what he and so many other bitched about.

Keep ignoring anything anyone does unless it's worse than trump....I'm sure we'll end up in a great place that way.

I'm well aware of what you're saying. But again, why can't anything Biden says be discussed on its own merit? It never can? EVER?

Biden: "I'm the most effective president ever"
    some: "no he isn't"
others: "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT HE SAID. THE GOP/TRUMP SAY WORSE THINGS EVERY DAY".
some: "yeah, we know, but that doesn't negate that fact that what he said isn't really true"
others: "GOP/TRUMP SAID (THIS), SO THERE!"

I guess....this is what they're talking about? Kinda run of the mill stuff if you ask me.

    https://transcripts.cnn.com/show/cton/date/2022-10-11/segment/01

TAPPER: Whenever anyone raises concerns about your age, the oldest president, in the history of the United States, you always say, "Watch me."

Voters have been watching you. Democratic voters approve of the job you're doing. Democratic voters, overwhelmingly, like you. But one poll shows that almost two-thirds of Democratic voters want a new nominee in 2024. And the top reason they gave was your age.

So what's your message, to Democrats, who like you, who like what you've done, but are concerned about your age and the demands of the job?

BIDEN: Well, they're concerned about whether or not I'd get anything done. Look what I've gotten done. Name me a president, in recent history, who's gotten as much done, as I have, in the first two years. Not a joke. You may not like what I got done. But the vast majority of the American people do like what I got done.

And so, I just, it's a matter of, can you do the job. And I believe I can do the job. I've been able to do the job. I've gotten more done. I got the Inflation Reduction. I got all these pieces of legislation passed. And I ran on that. I said, this is what I was going to do. And I'm still getting it done.

We've had, dealing with, making sure that veterans get compensated for the, for--

    TAPPER: The burn pits.

    BIDEN: The burn pits.

    TAPPER: Yes.

BIDEN: Making sure that we're in a situation, where we finally have action on guns.

And, by the way, I'm going to get the assault weapons ban. Before this is over, I'm going to get that. Again, not a joke. And watch.

And so, I just think there's a, you know, it's a matter of, has anybody done more, in the first two years of their administration, for a guy, who was - they've been saying this about my age for - since I began to run. And so, you know?

    TAPPER: You--

BIDEN: Will you come work out with me in the morning?

    TAPPER: Anytime! Anytime!

The big question, of course, is when you're going to make an official announcement, about whether or not you're going to run for 2024, for re-election. Do you think you'll make a decision before the end of the year?

BIDEN: Well, look, I'm not going to make this about my decision. I'm going to make this off-year election. After that's done, in November, and then I'm going to be in the process of deciding.

TAPPER: Is one of the calculations that you think you're the only one who can beat Donald Trump?

BIDEN: I believe I can beat Donald Trump again.

TAPPER: All right, Mr. President, thank you so much for your time today. We really appreciate it.

    BIDEN: Thank you.

TAPPER: And I know you're rooting for the Phillies!

    BIDEN: That's a fact! If I weren't, I'd be sleeping alone. I married a Philly girl!

I'm sure there's a pretty good argument to be made by many a president who would argue the same thing. how does one really qualify that, anyway?

I thought all the stuff biden wasn't getting done was because of obstructionist republicans and joe manchin. but now he's got the most done ever? so what do you keep complaining about then?

Biden's obviously gotten a lot accomplished. But "more than any other president" is highly debatable.

Biden's obviously gotten a lot accomplished. But "more than any other president" is highly debatable.
Why do you have that in quotes? Was that in the transcript?

How do people have a problem with this? I don't get it.

"Well, they're concerned about whether or not I'd get anything done. Look what I've gotten done. Name me a president, in recent history, who's gotten as much done, as I have, in the first two years. Not a joke. You may not like what I got done. But the vast majority of the American people do like what I got done."

what I find interesting is that no one really had a problem with it. cincy just mentioned that it was very trumpy/politicky to say something like that. he didn't even seem that bothered by it. and then the wolves came out and got all frothy about how we can't say anything bad about biden "cuz the GOP". this current exchange is less about what biden said and more about how we're apparently not allowed to speak ill of the current president, no matter how soft or flippant said criticism is.

Yeah...but to me there is an ENORMOUS difference between something being Trumpy or "politicky." This wasn't Trump speak at all. This was typical speech from a politician who's been at it for 50 years. There is nothing about that paragraph that jumps out as something the last president would say.

Also, for what it's worth, the guy really has gotten a ton of shit done in the last couple of years.

i view it as like a professional athlete reviewing a timeframe of his career. if someone asks judge from the yankees about the year he had he can say somethng like "nobody in the history of the AL has hit more home runs in a year than i have. you may not like me, but i accomplished that."

trump accomplished tax cuts for the top earners, a few supreme court seats, and a shitload of judges appointed, which biden is actually outpacing him on currently, and essentially nothing else.

One could argue that trump got more done than any other president by flipping the SCOTUS.

Can anyone here name a POTUS who got more done in their first two years? Put up or STFU, right? Brandon even qualified it by saying you might not agree with the policy. This is what has some in a lather? Good lord.

I wasn’t complaining. Cincy was in his round about way. Someone else posted the exchange between Tapper and Brandon. Brandon was asked a direct question regarding his age and ability. He responded by saying he ran on getting shit done, he’s done it and he’s done it at his age. He then added that he’s gotten more done in his first two years than any other POTUS. Now, it’s fair to ask by which measures but I’m assuming it’s going to be legislation that impacts the lives of ordinary Americans in meaningful ways, unemployment, student loan, forgiveness, reforming pot laws/granting pardons, manufacturing investment,  infrastructure, green energy, COVID response, etc. As Brandon mentioned, you can disagree with the policy but you can’t deny he’s gotten shit done and kept his campaign promises. Again, sitting for an interview, asked a direct question and he answered it. If you, general you, disagree with his answer, feel free to counter it by listing those POTUSes that accomplished more. And he’s not at some rally before the delusional bragging in a word salad how great he is. Context, ya know? What is wrong with defending your record in the public spotlight at the helm of ‘Murica? Success bothers some people, I guess? Success achieved with ZERO repub support or alternatives. ZERO.

What do I complain about? I’m greedy and for a healthy democracy to function we need alternative policy ideas and compromise but what we have is one party unhinged and living in an alternative reality lead by a delusion traitor. That’ll end well.

At least the OP has moved on from his creepy, hair sniffing, dementia criticism and has moved on to more substantive criticisms that matter.
