    President Biden signs infrastructure bill!
Previous guy spent four years talking about infrastructure...Joe gets it done in 10 months.
This is disingenuous.  While it is a great hot take on owning Trump, we have yet to see how the money will be spent, if it will be wasteful and if it will deliver as advertised.  Sure the bill outlines how the money will be spent, but seeing is believing.  Joe did sign an infrastructure bill in 10 months and I won't criticize that progress, but infrastructure is far from "done".
Nothing I said is "disingenuous." If you think I implied that roads and bridges were already fixed, I just don't know what to tell you.

This is part of the problem with the dem base. They expect change to happen overnight. That is not the way things work...especially for a bill like this that will take years for people to actually see the results. Getting this bipartisan bill done is a HUGE accomplishment.

Not sure where I said that I expected new roads and bridges to instantaneously materialize, maybe you can enlighten me?   As far as celebrating the signing of a bill, sorry that's not for me.  We have no proof yet that this doesn't become a wasteful spending bill vs a bill that delivers results.  It could still go either way once the funds start getting disbursed. I'm cautiously hopeful.  If we don't see any progress besides money being spent it will play into the "Democrats just want to spend your money" narrative.  Celebrating this is like slow walking to the endzone and getting creamed before the touchdown.  When asphalt  and steel columns, beams, rails, new electrical grids start getting put down I will be celebrating just as much as the next guy.

I signed the infrastructure bill doesn't get votes if people don't see the work getting done.  I know for some Yellow Dogs on here the he's not Trump or whatever is enough, but for most people spending that kind of money and not seeing results is a big deal.  In 2-3 years when there is proof that this money is going to infrastructure I will celebrate and say Biden got it done.

Like I said, when people start getting paid to tear up old roads, grade new ones and dig up pipes with minimal waste spending I will be happy.  That's what is promised in this bill right?  I don't think that is a large ask before I decide to be happy with the bill.

Damn those fools in the 60's for celebrating the Civil Rights Act before bathrooms were actually physically desegregated.

By your reasoning literally nothing a president does should be celebrated in real time. Illogical. But go ahead man, get excited in 2025. lol

My 2 cents. For the previous guy, infrastructure week was just another hustle.
For Joe, it was a goal.
We sure do need repairs to our infrastructure. My hope is that we have honest oversight because so many processes have become so corrupted over many years. It won't happen quickly but it has to be a goal.
    2 cents spent.
    Have a great week, all.

Hustle indeed, I don't think the prior administration ever wanted to pass an infrastructure bill, that would suggest the federal government is working.

Civil rights bill became law immediately.  Infrastructure is a spending package, hardly the same thing.

That thing Biden did yesterday with his pen, where he wrote his name....that made his infrastructure bill into a law. It's literally a law now.

And did things change overnight? Hell, it’s been 56 years and some shit still hasn’t changed despite that bill.

Civil rights are the analogy you want to use for how things can be turned around overnight with the passing of a bill? Is that a joke?

I signed the infrastructure bill doesn't get votes if people don't see the work getting done.  I know for some Yellow Dogs on here the he's not Trump or whatever is enough, but for most people spending that kind of money and not seeing results is a big deal.  In 2-3 years when there is proof that this money is going to infrastructure I will celebrate and say Biden got it done.
    lol

Some people will just never be satisfied I guess.

Illogical. But go ahead man, get excited in 2025. lol
Civil rights bill became law immediately.  Infrastructure is a spending package, hardly the same thing.

Civil rights are the analogy you want to use for how things can be turned around overnight with the passing of a bill? Is that a joke?

No kidding.  By the end of the 60's and into the 70's, the Black Power movement was in full gear and struggling because almost nothing had changed since 1964.  Even now, decades later, despite some progress, we're still not there.  Very few things change in this country over night.

Illogical. But go ahead man, get excited in 2025. lol
Civil rights bill became law immediately.  Infrastructure is a spending package, hardly the same thing.
That thing Biden did yesterday with his pen, where he wrote his name....that made his infrastructure bill into a law. It's literally a law now.
Yes and it is clearly as significant as the civil rights bill was as soon as it was signed.  Get back to me when the John Lewis Voting Rights Act is signed and I promise I will be celebrating more than you, well before the ink dries.

And did things change overnight? Hell, it’s been 56 years and some shit still hasn’t changed despite that bill.

Civil rights are the analogy you want to use for how things can be turned around overnight with the passing of a bill? Is that a joke?

literally almost nothing changed overnight with civil rights.
Did I say anything changed overnight.  A precedent was set that allowed many things to change within the legal system of the US immediately. Sure even then people had to get in the streets, go to court etc, but there was now an established legal precedent.  This was just signing a spending package, sure it’s the “law” of the land but with how that money is going to be distributed and the potential for complete mishandling at the state and local levels it is not even close to worth celebrating like the civil rights bill was per Jugglers example.  This spending bill is in no way comparable to the civil rights bill.

Damn those fools in the 60's for celebrating the Civil Rights Act before bathrooms were actually physically desegregated.

Wow and three is the magic number, who knew? I stand corrected, the spending bill that was signed into law changed the gravitational force of our national politics just as much as the civil rights act and is totally something that should be celebrated on a similar level. *sarcasm*

I don’t disagree with the second part you added to your statement. I will be happy as well provided that there is no mismanagement of the funds on the state and local levels.  I’m all for everything in the bill provided it gets completed.  I dont think being skeptical of government management of trillions of dollars of infrastructure over the course of several years is irrational.

    Awesome, thanks Kat.
Infrastructure bill signed by Biden allocates at least 9 billion to Mass and transportation advocates have ideas on how to spend it - The Boston Globe

In 2-3 years when there is proof that this money is going to infrastructure I will celebrate and say Biden got it done.
    lol

Some people will just never be satisfied I guess.

Illogical. But go ahead man, get excited in 2025.
At least you learned how a bill becomes a law today.

Some of us are excited and think it is a big deal to have our roads and bridges finally get repaired. Literally decades overdue. We're also rational people who recognize it takes a while for those things to be completed.
Be skeptical all you want. The point is how a local government handles this a year or two from now has nothing to do with Joe Biden. Biden did his job. He got a badly needed infrastructure bill into law. Your bridges and roads are gonna get fixed man! GET EXCITED!!!! Woo!

Yeah, but they were all people who had to hold down 2-3 jobs to make ends meet

Now they're just down to 1 job and side-hustle to put food on the table
