He’ll win it Republicans don’t have the guts to vote in a moderate if there is one? Who might that be?

There are supposedly nine GOP reps that refuse to vote for McCarthy under any circumstances.  If that is actually true, he can't get it without D votes.  We'll see what happens today.  I don't see how multiple votes changes the outcome if there are only two candidates (McCarthy and Biggs).  If there were 6 candidates and then you had consolidation, then I could see multiple votes making a difference.

I saw good ol' Justin Amash throw his name into the mix on twitter.

I guess the best case scenario would be a moderate rising after Mccarthy fails and then whoever the far right wackos nominate fails.

Would you agree with that? I'm not sure it matters much either way. But seeing Mccarthy fail is definitely a blow to maga and horrible people like Marge Greene so it would be nice to see them struggle today.

No way on Amash.  I appreciate that he's principled, but he's not a moderate.

And yes, McCarthy is such a sleaze with zero moral compass.  He just wants to be Speaker, no matter what.  If he thought being a moderate would get him the D votes he needed for the gavel, he would do that in an instant.

Five years ago, you would say that Stefanik would be the person to take it, but she sold her soul to Trump.

  • 19, thus far, against McCarthy. How embarrassing. So much winning. Let the implosion begin. And Jefferies with a 13 vote lead. Ouch!
  • Welcome to the history books, Kevin. Dems ought to find 7 reasonable repubs, if they exist. Could you imagine?

10 for Biggs and 9 for Others (6 for Gym). it would be INCREDIBLE, but it's not going to happen

Well, Matt Getts Off did say he'd rather see Hakim be speaker than Kevin. Keep hope alive!
  • Gym Jordan at the podium. God is he awful. He's in light speed speaking mode. Third priority is Hunter's laptop, to lukewarm applause. Good luck, 'Murica. Kevin sold his soul and will be speaker after this second vote. Full on Alpha male mode.
  • Matt Getts Off skewering Kevin, and throwing his support to Gym Jordan. Birds of a feather flock together. This is really fun.

third. Gym Jordan received 19 votes the second time around.
  • And when they finally do select a speaker, its going to be a shit show of a 118th Congress.
  • And we'll be going to a fourth round.

Zero chance he gets it.  Jeffries will get the most votes yet again.

Not on this one. But it's not looking good for McCarthy if he's still losing votes at this point...
