I'm not a fan of her history of being "tough on crime." But she does carry herself well.

Pence will probably request a male moderator sit between him and Harris at the debate.

    No, he’ll request “mother.”

I said this elsewhere but since we have this thread...

Kamala Harris, a senator from California?  There goes a major chunk of the moderate vote for Biden and definitely many conservatives who are not thrilled with and are on the fence with Trump.  I hope I'm wrong, but I think this was a major fuck up on Biden's part (or whomever told him to pick her).

Its unfortunate, Biden lost the swing voters today.  4 more years of DJT unfortunately. As expected, the libs really dropped the ball.

I think Harris was his best option.  She’s smart and tough, and go toe to toe with the good ol boys of politics.  She can be the attack dog which is something Biden lacks.  VPs just need to compliment the Pres and while they probably are rather similar in a lot of their views the “issues” stopped mattering in elections a while ago.  Now it just matters how you feel.  People like her and she’s not an easy target for the Right like someone Warren would have been.  I thinks it’s a rather safe call but the right call.
  • Swing votes?
You are either in favor of the evil, racist, sexist, slime existing in office or you are for human decency.
As much as I am not really aligned with the Dems, Great Grandpoppa Joe, and Kamala Harris, there is only one choice to make.
    Never Trump.

Yeah, I was going to leave that POTUS/VP vote blank on Election Day. Not anymore. I am voting for Kamala! I don't know if I count as a swing vote, but I haven't checked a box for a presidential candidate since 2004.

There was nothing Biden could do to win this election.  Whoever he picked, black, white, male, female, liberal, moderate...this country exists in the image of Donald J. Trump.

If only that was the "swing vote" people were referencing, instead of the haters who just want to be able to tell their people they have a reason now to vote the way they were going to anyway.
(And it will be a fake reason....not that it is a Woman and a Black Woman at that.)

Eh Copmala in a time where society is asking for less “Law and Order” she certainly is a more conservative choice than I would have preferred. She has a lot of positives to bring to the ticket for the moderate Republican crowd.  I would have liked to see a pick that would please the left like Bass.  She’s definitely not an easy target like warren Or rice  would have been that’s for sure.  Probably thee person that will actually be most capable to actually pick up the baton of Joe doesn’t make it for his full term.   I mean I wanna hate because she is wayyyyyy more of a conservative than I would like, but the DNC ain’t listening to me.   Oh and she will absolutely wipe the flor with Pence.  I can’t believe that @brianlux thinks she will lose the moderate R vote.  In my eyes she is the Law and Order candidate of the ticket and exactly what those type of voters would prefer.

    I'll try to explain again.
Much of the country, especially the more rural areas, hates Californians.  Many of these moderate or moderate/conservatives will be uncomfortable voting for a black woman from California.  Strike one.
Biden needs the swing states.  Sorry to those who disagree, but I do believe there are swing states.  Harris may cause them to go Trump.  Strike two.
Do what a lot of people do and look at Harris's political possitions page on Wikipedia (here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Kamala_Harris )  You might see her as too conservative, but many people will look at her positions and see a liberal from California.  Foul ball.
Biden's choice may win some black votes, but many people will see his picking Harris as pandering to the black vote.  There are many people who are silently racist.  This is a fact and, strike three, we're outta here.

Can you be more clear about which swing voters you're referencing? I don't understand how moderates will have a problem with Biden and Harris. They both seem pretty moderate to me. This year will be the first time I vote for a Dem for president (haven't voted for a major party presidential candidate since 1984 election) and I've been voting since the 1980 elections. I'm looking forward to electing our first woman VP, and am guessing Joe will serve 1 term and be done, so I expect in 2024 that she'll become the first woman elected POTUS as well.

Yeah I just don’t see him losing one conservative vote over this to anyone but the most sexist and racist.  I think it will if anything cost more progressive votes.  I mean it seems like a definite perfect pick for the moderate crowd.

The moderates I know (and most of my crew is moderate) LOVE Kamala Harris. We had our eye on her during primary season. I think she's a great pick for moderates. My concern is about losing "the radical leftists" (hahaha).
On the other hand, I don't think we need the California electoral college vote. I thought a woman from a swing state would have been a better strategic pick.

I’m a registered independent & was planning to vote for Biden regardless as fuckstick has to go... with that being said, I like Kamala. Between her, Biden, Trump & Pence I would take her as my president any day of the week.

I truly feel in my heart that the kind of people who would be turned off by her as a pick were probably planning to vote for trump regardless of who Biden picked. I would guess her addition will probably win more moderates than it will lose.
