Wow! That’s a lot of ANTIFA. And thugs. And radical libs.
It's just total anarchy.
Soon to fall, much like Seattle.
I’m not really sure what exactly you’re mocking. Lives were lost in CHOP, property was destroyed, small businesses suffered, people were assaulted, people were scared. Anyone held accountable for all that?
And where do you live? You guys live around these protests? Chicago?

There’s a thread title I’m mocking. Do you think snatch and grab shock troops are going to restore law and order? You’re okay with that? How many black lives have been and need to be lost before people wake up? Last I checked there are a number of people being charged with felonies. Scared? Like that Missouri couple scared? You know who was scared? George Floyd. You know who else is scared everyday? Black people going about their everyday lives.
I live in a diverse city in a diverse neighborhood where white kids are a minority in the college bound high school and where 99% of graduates go to college. Our local and state government is responsive to the minority communities needs. My city elected a gay mayor and Hispanic mayors. We have reasonable gun control laws and accountable law enforcement and criminal justice. Is it perfect? No but it’s a hell of a lot better than some of these other places in the US.
I wonder what the crime rate was in Seattle in the chop zone month to month year over year, comparatively? People are shot to death everyday in ‘Murica, why during a protest or within CHOP is any different? Is Chicago going to fall next?

And a nice response to my questions, by the way. Way to go personal too.

We watched this great movie about Thurgood Marshall last night called Marshall. Great film!
The film really offers a great perspective on the hard work of the NAACP and Marshall's brilliance as a trial lawyer working for justice for black citizens wrongly charged due to color.
I was not opposed to the early protests after the killing of George Floyd, but I'd really like to see something more constructive start happening. I don't see anything constructive coming out of the protest anymore. And I have to wonder, how many of these white (or even black!) protesters know their black history? Are they familiar with Ida B. Wells, Thurgood Marshall, Marcus Garvey, etc? Do they know that the first open heart surgery was performed by a black man? Do they know that it was a black man named Du Sable who founded Chicago? That a black man named Charles Drew came up with the process of storing blood plasma in blood banks? Are they familiar with the rich history of black musicians in blues and jazz or do they only know about Jay-Z and Kanye and the like? Sure, many of us didn't or don't know a lot about black history unless we learned it ourselves, because not all schools teach it. So let's start educating ourselves and demand better education for all, especially they less privileged among us.
And then instead of continuing to go out and piss off the goddamn rednecks who aren't going to change now matter how many times you scream at them anyway, lets get smart and set goals and have specific demands.
And most of all, lets learn how to get along and be helpful. I don't see much of any of this happening.

This may be happening in the WNBA because of Loeffler’s attempts to halt support for BLM, not just on her team but for the whole league. She claims she’s standing up for Conservatives’ right to free speech. That’s probably made this a more divisive issue than it otherwise would be.

Loeffler commented about the walk off after it happened. Did she say something beforehand? Either way I am not pleased with what the teams did.

The GOP would be smart to bring this up all day every day. All they have is the culture war. And I think they can win it.

To tell you the truth, I've never understood why the National Anthem is played before a sporting event. Maybe someone can explain that to me.
Wouldn't it make more sense to play a song related to the game itself? Like, for instance:
Baseball: "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".
Basketball: "Basketball Jones"
Football: "Masters of War"
Soccer: ¡Viva el fútbol!
Tennis: "Wake Me Up When It's Over"
In professional sports I believe they play the anthem of the country represented. So when the Blue Jays play they sing both national anthems. I don’t think it’s odd since in theory it’s an “international “ league. And the popularity of playing it grew in response to WWI and II and the tradition stuck.
What’s odd to me is we throw in 1 Canadian team and call it a World Series or world champions.

good. stop playing it altogether or leave players off the field/court until its done.
Baseball has players from other countries. hockey too. nba as well. honor them all or none.
Yeah, that's not going to happen in honoring all the countries. No other country in the world does that.
We do play the Canadian anthem when a northern team is in town.
So back to this.
If any of them were in the olympics would they walk off the podium while the anthem was playing?
Kneeling I'm all for it. Walking off? Not so much.
They might do this if they were in the Olympics
People are still upset over how other people peacefully protest a one minute song? Ugh.
This is actually my favorite protest ever and I want to have this as a poster on my wall.
What's great about this and the kneeling is they actually respected the song. Little known fact about this. The two gentlemen didn't have another glove to give Norman the Aussie but they did have an Olympic project for human rights badge, which all 3 wore.
There should be some restraint on how far you protest the anthem.

So if folks want to protest the anthem in the future, they should just check with you about what is acceptable or not. Got it!
