Didn’t even have to to win the nomination. He should just stay there and coast to the White House and be known as Sleepy Woke Joe, the Basement President.
Too similar to our current president...The bunker president
Ridiculous statement. He's following the stay order that was in place on Delaware. There are no public gatherings allowed. What are you suggesting he do? Drive around in circles and speak in empty parks? Im being serious. Why would you expect him to violate a stay order?

Not even close.
You misunderastood. I meant the nickname was too similar.

Jesus - some of you are so fucked up in the head by trump that you ignore all the history of posts. I was joking about the fucking nickname. It's so fucking tiring.

You mean we don't know or remember what's rolling around in your head? I have no idea what you mean, but if you're saying it was a joke, then I apologize. I didn't read it that way.
There's a little parable we can watch develop in real time. Consider this when people squawk about "well what legislation have they passed" as they're slagging a candidate.
Early this week Justin Amash drafted a bill to end qualified immunity. Lean, direct, and extremely effective if it passes. Ayanna Pressley signed on as co-lead and a couple dozen House Reps, all Democrats, have come on board as co-sponsors.
Now House Democrat leadership is drafting a much broader bill that will cover all sorts of items:
On first blush, there appears to be a multitude of positive items. My fear, however, is twofold:
1. Once this goes through the usual meatgrinder, many items will be defanged and a whole bunch of other unrelated items will be jammed in. Instead of addressing individual items in unique bills, everything may get blunted to pass one bloated piece of legislation.
2. The article already talks about "altering" qualified immunity which sounds different to me than ending it. I worry that this will not only squash Amash and Pressley's bill, but also be not nearly as effective. It really feels like they're about to be steamrolled.
I hope I'm wrong, but am too cynical to be optimistic.

Yeah, that's the other opportunity for it to be taken out, although it would take a little longer. As the article mentions, Thomas seems to have his issues with it and Gorsuch tends to be strong on civil liberties. Would love to see it tossed whole cloth.
No 'silver lining': Trump faces voter backlash amid crises
By STEVE PEOPLES and SCOTT BAUER

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — At the end of one of his most turbulent weeks in office, President Donald Trump was eager on Friday to boast of a better than expected jobs report to argue the country is poised for a booming recovery. Benjamin Lund was not moved.
The 45-year-old Milwaukee man is a longtime Republican who was raised in a conservative family in the political battleground of Wisconsin. At the onset of 2020, he had little doubt that he would support Trump's reelection.
Then the pandemic hit and Lund lost his restaurant job. A processing backlog meant he went two months without unemployment benefits. He later watched with dismay Trump's hard-line response to the police killing of George Floyd and the civil unrest that followed.
Lund, who is white, now plans to vote a straight Democratic ticket and rejects any effort by Trump to put a “silver lining” on the nation's pain.

Not sure if this question has been pondered here: Does anybody else in hindsight wish they had supported someone else leading up to the Super Tuesday crowning of Biden?
I had finally narrowed my choice to Amy Klobuchar, after toying with several others. While I believe she's sincere in explaining away her record, that she's committed to new ways of thinking now, I understand why she is a problematic VP pick and hope Biden does not select her.
However, at one point, I looked closely at Elizabeth Warren, and I am really wishing now that she were our nominee. I wish I had seen better that our country needs what she was offering and then helped promote her campaign.
Sleepy Joe is going to blow it. I just feel it in me. Given the enormous challenges we face, that nobody had on their radar in January and February, I really wonder whether he's got enough life left in him to meet the task. I wish I could report feeling differently, because even though I didn't want to vote for him, I did speak strongly against the ageism -- just three months ago. But man, he's gotta step up.

Joe was way down my list. But in a strange way I think he might end up being the best candidate for the moment. I think he is going to pick a tremendous VP and set the US up for the first female president.
There is a lot I dislike about Joe. But he has been in the White House and has a long career. What we will need immediately jan 2021 is someone that can really start working ASAP with no on the job learning. Much to be done. I feel Joe will be able to get things moving fast and provide stable yet forward focused leadership.
Right now, the City of Minneapolis is unwittingly campaigning for Trump. And it’s going to be effective. Suburbanites are gonna be scared of phrases like “defund the police.”

Wedge issue
I'd be interested to see what the polling looks like on this in a week or two. Right now Biden is absolutely destroying Trump on race relations and the response to the George Floyd stuff. But, I tend to agree that most people would not be for defunding the police simply because they don't understand what it means. This country has been defunding education for decades. But, yeah--I agree that this stuff is not going to be helpful.
Right now, the City of Minneapolis is unwittingly campaigning for Trump. And it’s going to be effective. Suburbanites are gonna be scared of phrases like “defund the police.”
Especially when the end result is likely going to seem way different than how that headline reads. There's a lot of weird framing and weird slogans that I worry will obscure serious reform that most people can get behind.
That's what it sounds like, right? And even when you do see dissolution (like what's happening in Minneapolis), it seems to mean "the county takes over certain aspects." Weird, weird, weird.
