Pence did better on Covid (though they both sucked).  Pence dominated on taxes. Pence spoke well to people that don’t want to make sacrifices for the environment.

I’d say Pence is a bit worse on pushing deadlines and interruptions.  But he’s otherwise winning.
Yeesh. Not how I saw that at all.

The interrupting and refusing to stop talking is annoying.
Only about halfway through, recorded it and watching it later.
But so far there’s been very minimal interrupting. The refusing to stop taking is only annoying because of the moderator. You can’t expect people to stop mid sentence. Give them a 10 second warning or something. Instead she just repeats “please stop taking” over and over when they just need 5-10 seconds to finish a sentence. That’s what’s annoying. Just say “times up, finish your thought” and leave it for 10 seconds.
    Seriously?

Harris wins tonight because she had better answers for the issues people care most about: covid, economy and healthcare. Nothing else matters much.

I thought Pence was really annoying just disregarded the rules...not to the blatant extent his boss did last week but still in an obvious way. I think it turns off the majority of voters. They need to be able to cut mic's or something.

Yeah, at least to the point I’ve watched, I was just commenting on the interrupting, not who’s winning or has better answer.  I said I’ve only seen about half so far so unless it got worse later on.
There has been minimal interruptions, and the run on answers have been about 10 seconds. Which seems reasonable. Tell them times up and give them 10 seconds to finish, not a constant “thank thank, thank you, thank you.....”

As far as interrupting each other, they both have. But just a few times. Harris seems to have been coached to draw intention to it. Pence can just say “not true” while Harris is talking and leave it at that and Harris will stop her point and say “I’m speaking right now. Please stop and respect my speaking.”
Harris will interrupt Pence, but he just keeps talking like a normal person. Not trying to talk down to someone as if they’re 3 years old. That’s more annoying that Pence taking an extra 10 seconds, which Harris is doing too.

Pence clearly went over his time and interrupted way more than Harris.

And if Harris was coached on it, job well done. Everyone was turned off by it last week. She showed a lot of restraint tonight. And her "Excuse me, I'm talking" lines were solid.

    Pence is dominating so far
I dunno. I’m biased cause I can’t stand Harris but even I can’t go as far as to say he’s dominating. He talks stoically so it sounds good, but he’s still full of shit. Bringing up swine-flu? Come on....
Oh man. I told my wife, Harris should've started her next answer by saying "Swine flu? Really Mr. Vice President?...." then simply move on to her topic. Would've emphasized how ridiculous the comparison was even more.

Fucking swine flu. Trying to defend their response to covid by bringing up the fucking swine flu? haha.....that, folks, is a losing argument all day long.

They both went over their times on nearly every answer.
I just timed it for kicks. When moving into the last topic Susan stopped Harris and said time was up and moving on to the next topic. Harris just said no and she was going to make her point. So Susan says “ok, you get 30 seconds.” She spoke for 35 seconds uninterrupted before Susan said time was up, Harris again just said no and that she was going to finish. She spoke for another 55 seconds uninterrupted after that until she finished. No mention from Susan to stop, no  constant “thank you” to get her to stop. Just let her talk for an extra 90 seconds after she was told her time was up with only 1 request to stop because she just told the moderator “no” when told her time was up.
Meanwhile Pence will get 10 “thank you Mr Pence” from Susan during his 10 seconds he goes over.

Yea, you know Susan. Know her well. Like friends, right? Like know her well? Like from high school? Sure you do.

Maybe, like maybe, Scully, the “truth” is out there? Maybe, I should “listen” to the other side.Right? So, is the earth flat? Is covid a hoax? Maybe Tupac shot Biggie? Or global temperature rise is a farce? Or sheriff deputies were directed to load their trunk months ago, so dire was the future. Then? Then there were rioters, chaos, jumping on the bus, to freedom or incarceration, but it was taken as granted as truth. Because someone told someone else so. See how that works? No, you don’t. Yea yea yea!

Most commentators I've heard so far give the edge to Harris but also say, almost to a person, that this debate won't move the needle either way.   Pence did gain one big point when he flat out asked Harris if she and Biden were going to "pack the court".  That had me squirming a bit.  But, damn, what could she say?  Tell the truth?  Dodge the question?  Tough one.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

What does this even mean? Really? Bubba?

The worst observation of a claim to be relevant to matter of the importance of what matters because my attention span spiraled so I consulted and was told by someone but checked and it made sense except when I did it did or didn’t line up because last time it happened a while ago I wondered and so what that shouldn’t matter does, right? Am I right?

Weird seeing a debate where someones uses "They want to get rid of fossil fuels!" as an argument against.

The same, with not being able to say they trust the science on climate change.

    Sorry, but:

    Scary stuff.

    Waiting for the fly.

pence just could not stop at the red lights. he blew through the moderator on every single question. he did not once stop when his time was up.

this debate did not help trump any. harris did a good job with the negligence on covid, how trump inherited obama/biden economy and ruined it, how trump called dead soldiers and mccain losers, and defending her own record as a prosecutor.

i followed along on twitter and i think harris may have resonated with women more because pence kept talking over her. the same way most women have experienced a lesser qualified man doing that to them at some point in their career. the misogyny was resonating during the live tweet.
I agree about Harris resonating with women, it was quite powerful when she said "MrVice PresidentI'm speaking"

Pence clearly went over his time and interrupted way more than Harris.

That fly will probably get a couple hundred write-in votes.

Virtual debate announced and trump says he won't participate.  Honestly that is just perfect for Biden.  Could not have worked out better.  Let the crazy Trump who's sick be the image. I suppose there will be a third but let people keep voting.

so do I understand this correctly? Trump would prefer to share his diagnosis (literally) with select voters instead of a virtual appearance?

They should announce the debate goes on and trump will be represented by a blank screen. Free 90 minutes for Biden on all the networks (except Trump TV on Fox).

So now the next news cycle is going to be about Trump backing out of the debate.

Folks, 2016 is so far in the rearview mirror you can't even see it anymore. Trump is weak. Trump is done.

Yes. Instead, he will share his covid with thousands more at a rally.

Yeah.  Biden not having to debate and it being Trump’s fault is perfect.  The only way it could be better is if so many Americans didn’t view his hissy fits as strength.
