  • Putting people on pedestals is bound to leave you disappointed. That's on you, not the other person.

Absent any egregious moral faults or crimes, I look at it this way - is the individual doing more good than harm? If yes, great, and this seems to be one of those cases. You can't really ask for more as projecting and expecting perfection according to your personal definition is all kinds of ridiculous.

The other thing is he's probably doing more good in this world than you are, so who are you to judge?

Should I Stay or Should I Go..that would be a fun encore cover as a band. Wonder if that’s ever been done?

He has played it solo before I believe but aside from a tease from Las Vegas 03 I do not think the whole band has played it.

I think this is funny......people are getting way too defensive.

If I could afford it I’d fly private too.  I think everyone needs to relax and try to look at each post with humor before taking offense.  Life’s easier when you’re happy.
    Just my thoughts.

I don't know what was said, whom was talked to, etc.

But in order to make change, you have to talk and work with people that need to change.

You can't always preach to the choir.

If he told the private jet clients to ditch their private jet services, that would be a wild ass corporate gig

Play some remote, spicy cities that not many fans live near, and have a big part of the crowd travel to you! Those airlines are flying anyway.
  • Was lucky enough to see the show. Ed sounded amazing. Cannot wait for the tour!
  • And Immortality was played.

I think you have a different idea of what remote means than I do. Krakow, Budapest, and Zurich are far from remote.

Remember, Ed had a scary stalker situation at one point. Anyone who went through that might not be too eager to sit on a crowded airplane with god knows who. Also, you probably wouldn't want your family sitting on that same crowded airplane.

Also he has hundreds of millions of dollars.  He freaking earned the right to fly on a private jet.

Did you guys want him to walk there?  Maybe take a sailboat for the European tour?
Transportation to the gig aside, is it off message for a climate change activist to perform a private show for a private jet company?
I understand both sides of this argument, but unless you were there you do not know the message Ed was delivering between songs. He conceivably could have used it to discuss climate change with the folks at Netjets who are all probably wealthy and influential.
Someone of Ed’s stature is not going to help change the world from his living room.

Love the pic with HOFer Chelios!
If that is what would pass as climate change activism, it goes a long way in explaining why people are not taking it seriously.

And I say all this as someone who is perfectly fine with everything he's doing. My politics on the issue don't necessarily line up with the band's, so it's just strange to see him doing something counter to his position vs. mine.
I didn’t say that was what he was doing. I was merely pontificating.

I’m just glad chelios didn’t give Ed a cheap shot.  Never forget his cheap shot on the Flyers Brian Propp.  Screw him 👎
Growing up a Hawks fan I liked him....until I met him.
I liked him until he became a Red Wing, won the Stanley Cup, then showed up with it at the Ed solo show to rub it in our faces.

I was sitting right below him at that show.  He held cup down to let us touch it and I refused.
Touched it later in time at Richards bar after Hawks won it.
