I went to my first ticketed event in 15 months yesterday. White Sox at Twins. Got some really good seats and saw a great game. Having OCD and being risk-averse, I wasn't always comfortable, but now that I've had dose #2 (and the two weeks has passed), I have to do something. It was an OK experience.  Sat third row behind the visitors dugout.  Someone right behind us and nobody in rows 1 and 2. Maybe no-shows, but if those seats were not sold, then..? (We moved up to the front row and had distance).

The staff did OK with masks. The fans? Not so much.

I went to the Twins/Sox game Monday & Tuesday this week too!

    GO GO White Sox!

I'm 2 weeks out from my second shot.  It was great to walk around outside without a mask on!

When I went a few weeks ago, a bunch of the seats were zip-tied closed to keep groups separated.  Zip-ties are gone now.

I think they are still limiting capacity though.  I notices all the seats at the end of the row, on the aisle, are not being sold.

I'm sure you enjoyed monday more than tuesday. For my part, I'm really glad I chose Tuesday.

Anyway, my two weeks was complete on Sunday and since I'd come this far, I decided to consider myself "unvaccinated" until then. I was disappointed when the Twins opened more seats because I wanted to go in the 10000 capacity (not for covid reasons; just for the sparse crowd).

Covid or no covid, it's pretty nice not have giant lines and the outrageously packed concourse for the final 30 minutes before first pitch. All in all, it was a pretty good experience not dealing with crowds.  Also, it was probably my 50th or 60th game there and only the second time I went by car and parking was a breeze...

You won't have to worry about crowds if the Twins keep playing like they have been this season....

The game I went to that had 10,000 capacity wasn't much different from last night.  Lots of room to spread out, no lines for food, parking was easy.

I still don't see the point in masks if outdoors unless you're so close to the person you can give mouth to mouth. if there's even a slight breeze those virus particles are in the wind.

mind you, I'm not an infectious disease specialist. Just read a bunch that masks outdoors are kinda dumb.
Me neither. I've followed the guidance and requirements, but have never worn one outdoors (except the rare times I was near others or required to). I was rudely asked to put my mask on about a month ago when we went to an ice cream stand outside and I was standing about 15 feet away reading the menu. I actually had intended to put it on just to avoid confrontation, but walking outside and being 15 feet away I just forgot for a few moments. The rude reminder from the employee yelling from the stand 15 feet away as I read the flavor list almost made me walk away. Now that the mask order is lifted and the guidance says I don't need to wear one indoors either I want to take it off, but feel weird most of the time because I see no one else without one. If people have been that paranoid outdoors when its been okay, I don't know what their reaction is going to be now. I can shop at most stores and stay more than 6 feet away from anyone else, I've been vaccinated, the CDC and local laws say its ok, but I see almost no one taking it off here.

yeah, the guidance here is "wear a mask if you can't distance" even outdoors. Fine, no problem. Well, I'm in a line at the local farmer's market. there are painted lines on the pavement marking everyone 6 feet away from each other. Everyone has their masks on. *sigh* fine I'll put mine on now I guess.

it's not a massive deal. I just don't get why you get dirty looks when following the guidelines.

had a thought for all the anti-vaxxers out there.....like Contagion seemed to be a crazy foreshadowing to this pandemic, maybe these vaccines that were "rushed" will enter us in to the the Handmaid's Tale or Children of Men phase of our history.

    LOL

Montreal Canadians will be allowing fans starting May 28th…2500 fans will be in attendance…
Pretty surprised and happy to see this happen. Only like 8% attendance but its a start. Also I read an article a couple of hours before that were Canada would have zero fans all playoffs. Goes to show at this point you have to take the news with a grain of salt since things flip so fast.
That’s game 6.  Doubt Montreal gets this series to 6 games.  Lol.

    And speaking of ...

New data has allowed Pfizer to approve storage of the vaccine at refrigerator temperatures for up to one month after thawing, which is huge in terms of accessibility for remote areas across North America and much of the world. This was what was supposed to be the benefit of AZ, which is now so plagued with concerns about clots.

That is great news. It will also lessen the need to dispose of doses once a container has been thawed, but not enough people are there that day to get the vaccine. I have read reports of shot clinics having to dump doses due to that reason.
