Am I misreading some of this, or do a lot of people hope Trump gets the virus? It just seems that way with some of the posts and even a thread predicting when. I don't understand why you would wish the president gets it, even if you don't like him?
You’re not mis reading. And yes apparently it’s ok. But only for the current administration. Going forward it won’t be ok.
You're asking people to have compassion and caring towards a narcissistic, non-empathetic, fact avoidant bully who has bungled the US response to a virus that will result, and has resulted, in the death of many. Good luck! I'm not sure why this is a surprise to some. Go ahead and try to spin this however you want.
I didn't ask for compassion. I just think it is twisted to wish this virus on anyone, including him. Wishing it on him will just help spread it more, right? He comes in contact with world leaders. Wish that all his businesses go bankrupt (again) due to lack of spending or something, but why wish this virus on him? Seems like you're just wishing to make it worse if you do.
I do not wish that he gets this. I do think that his callous and reckless behavior, and dismissal of risk will eventually catch up with him, though. And if it does I will not feel sorry about it. I won't throw a party, but I will say that it serves him right, and was to be expected. He makes his own choices for his own behavior and any consequences are entirely of his making.

How's this for callous...I don't want him to get it because I don't want him dying. I don't want him martyred.  Not so much out of spite, but because I don't think we can move on from the First Family's aim Oligarchical aim he can either be removed (not happening) or defeated in an election).  I think Trump being alive and well (by his standards) is the only way to move on from this.

    As for the virus...
...I think yesterday was a turning point...starting with the NBA.  I think people are starting to get that this isn't just a flu.

And Rudy Gobert, the first NBA player to test positive just days before was mocking the "hysteria" by making a point to touch everything on the table in a media session.  I don't think it was malicious...just stupid and driven by delusions of invincibility.  I hope it gets out there in a big way...not to tarnish him but it's a great ironic cautionary tale.

If I say "I don't anticipate this aging well" am I going to be accused of hoping for disaster just to spite Trump?  Because it's not what I want...I wish it all would disappear right now and we get Trump out the old-fashioned way.  But I don't anticipate this aging well...shit's hitting the fan...

NBA was definitely the turning point. Ill be honest the NBA and college hoops cancelling all these games has freaked me out a bit. I was on board with PJ cancelling but for some reason seeing the NBA cancel was a 'holy shit' moment for me last night.  The unknown of this is very scary.  I just hope this doesn't turn into mass hysteria at like the supermarket and stuff. we don't need that either.  be cautious and smart though.

These big cancellations are very encouraging, these are the steps that will slow the spread and make people use caution.
The effect on the economy is a bit scary, but better a recession than mass casualty scenario.

Swedens biggest hotel chain SCANDIC is laying off 2000 people (half of it's employees) because of the virus and its board of directors will go go down 20 percent in pay.

Smaller companies will fall one by one I fear, restaurants, shops and the like.

I am not pleased to have the option to rebook my cruise as I would prefer a refund. Therefore, I have not yet cancelled a sailing on a boat that is in a 14 day route from New Orleans to San Diego to pick up * EDIT: AND DEBOARD * more passengers next Friday. Mexico will not be closing borders, including ports, should I wish to go ride a camel on the beach or visit a marine geyser.

Edit: I read that next week, Mexico, Canada, and US Health ministers will meet.

maybe that board of directors could have saved some jobs by going full on volunteer in their positions for the foreseeable future. sounds like capitalism to me.
