Fauci is now suggesting that eye protection can help against the virus. Makes sense. Whatever germs you can get in your mouth or nose, you can get in your eyes. But it took him four months into the pandemic to realize this and offer it?

While everyone is solely focused on trump, leaders and experts from all over the world have failed us. This is literally they’re job.

how have they failed us? this is a completely new virus that no one knew anything about. trump failed because he doesn't take the advice of the experts when they find something out, like most every other free world leader has done with great success.

But Trump's been particularly bad. As have been the De Santis-types that followed him blindly.

That's fine, but trying and failing isn't what Trump did. He has at times actively worked against those trying.

Herman Cain just died from this "hoax."

I don't revel in stuff like this happening but I do hope it's a story that helps wake people up.

Great. I never said Trump did a good or decent or even a bad job. So I’m not sure what trump has to do with anything I’ve said.

I said one thing about leaders failing us and I’m hit with multiple responses about how bad Trump is. Weird. I never said anything positive about Trump.

I think lots failed at the start and that is easy to say and see 5 months into this. I can also say that lots are doing the correct thing now. Trump is not one of them. That is the difference.

Not sure what you are trying for here. You said "While everyone is solely focused on trump, leaders and experts from all over the world have failed us. This is literally they’re job." I pointed out that these leaders and experts may have failed, but not in the way Trump has. You could have made a better point by leaving Trump out.

Kinda like my employer.  They dragged their feet for the first couple weeks but have really done right by us since.  They were totally unprepared, but hey, who wasn't.  A lot of "leaders" in government, business, science, etc., made mis-steps.  Understandable given how little precedence there is. But I think most make good-faith efforts to do the right thing. Unfortunately, there's a market demand for misinformation, particularly given America's unwillingness for inconvenience.  So you have an entire party thinking about its power and that party's leader (and our leader) thinking about himself.  Mistakes are going to happen...but there's no both-siding this.  The GOP, and particularly Trump, isn't acting in good faith.

The other thing going on is that we're being exposed to the changing nature of science in real time moreso than usual.  Sometimes there's a story related to a vaccine setback and people freak out...that's just normal scientific process that most of us don't follow. And expert opinions change and unfortunately people view that as weakness when in reality it's indicative of strength and critical thought.  And I am sure that impacts policy leaders into trying to appear steadfast.

Cancer survivor and was seen attending the Trump rally in the crowd with no mask.  People need clear information from authorities right now and we have not been getting that.

I pointed out that these leaders and experts may have failed, but not in the way Trump has. You could have made a better point by leaving Trump out.
Yes I should have never mentioned him. What a mistake.
Pretty much, since you then landed on "I said one thing about leaders failing us and I’m hit with multiple responses about how bad Trump is. Weird. I never said anything positive about Trump."

Other leaders' and experts' failures aren't comparable to Trumps. That's why his get focused on more.

Fauci is now suggesting that eye protection can help against the virus. Makes sense. Whatever germs you can get in your mouth or nose, you can get in your eyes. But it took him four months into the pandemic to realize this and offer it?

Eye protection can sure help in high exposure situations. Within the hospital we are only wearing face shields when there is high risk of exposure, such as aerosol-generating procedures. If you are just out and about in your daily life, it's quite unlikely that you'll be in a situation in which eye protection is going to make the difference. Infection through the eye is much less likely, because (1) the path for the virus particles to get to the respiratory system after entering through the mucous membranes of the eye is much less direct, and (2) you don't have an inspiratory breath bringing them in, like you do with the nose and mouth.

Given how much pushback there has been on masks, I don't blame Fauci at all for not focusing on eye protection, which is a much less important part of PPE for the general public. It risks muddying the message and further alienating people. Better to keep the message simple and focus on the crucial aspects.

I’m not getting into a back and forth. It’s my view that countless leaders and experts failed us. Not only Trump. This pandemic completely exposed us.
That's fine, but trying and failing isn't what Trump did. He has at times actively worked against those trying.

Great. I never said Trump did a good or decent or even a bad job. So I’m not sure what trump has to do with anything I’ve said.
You literally mentioned Trump in your post.

Did I? All I said was everyone is only focused on him. Does that imply he did a good job handing the pandemic? Or are you assuming?
Not sure what you are trying for here. You said "While everyone is solely focused on trump, leaders and experts from all over the world have failed us. This is literally they’re job." Cool I just don’t agree with because one person did the worst job, everyone else shouldn’t get mentioned.

We lost 30k people here in NY. 30k! Yet everyone loves Cuomo. We did a great job getting past it because everyone here was scared shit! Plus it was winter which makes it easier to stay in. I doubt we wouldn’t be in the same boat as Cali, Florida if the height of the curve happened here in better weather. We were told to wear face coverings WAY TOO LATE. I know the reasoning was for saving masks for first responders but cmon. Everyone has a scarf or something to use as a face covering. I just don’t understand the harm in calling out people who aren’t named Trump. We all know he’s failing.

Are there any other global leaders and experts who undermined their country's response to this pandemic the way Trump & the GOP have here in the states?
