Looks like he's an engineer in the area (played guitar on Lightning Bolt, engineer credit on King Animal), so this basically means produced in house

I really like Brendan O'Brien's works but I am also excited for a change in direction.

Just hope it isn't muddy/slushy sounding like Riot Act.  Looking forward to hearing new stuff.  My personal hopes are for no spoken word songs, and that the songs are 3-minutes-plus.  As opposed to shorties like MFC or some of the Ed solo uke stuff.  Just my tastes, please don't kill me.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

Speculation that they recorded a lot of songs for this record is music to my ears. Hoping for 12+ tracks. Maybe some brooding instrumentals that help seague one track into the next, to help create a seemless whole.
I’d love a double album and I know there were rumours but can’t see it happening. Maybe they have enough to release a follow up in the very near future??

Hopefully the 3 side cut means more songs, but my "fear" is that its only 3-4 a side.

Im guessing that Dance of the Clairvoyants is a longer song, with a radio edit.  hence the single.

It's actually double LP with 3 sides + 1 etched. It's 11 songs, so it will be shorter than LP i guess

  • Was it widely known that BoB sold his producing rights to his entire 1,855 song output with Pearl Jam?  I wonder if this has anything to do with why he's not producing the new album?
I was reading an article I thought was completely unrelated about a guy who is buying up songs throughout the music business.  The article starts listing songs, catalogs, as well as something that's relatively new regarding the purchasing of producer rights.  That's the only reference regarding BoB or PJ in the article.

"Mercuriadis bought Jeff Bhasker’s inventory (the Grammy’s 2016 Producer of the Year behind “Uptown Funk”), along with the entire 1,855-song output from Brendan O’Brien, best known for his work with Pearl Jam."

Oh okay that's cool.  I had no idea he did this and I guess it felt a bit surprising.  It's not surprising that people are motivated by money, only because we just found out BoB is not producing the new record.  I am also curious as to how the band or management might feel about this arrangement.
