Could it be they picked a producer who could work piecemeal and whenever the band was in town, with them not seeming to really be able to dig in and block of X weeks to be in a studio with a hired producer going all in on the project...

Or that BoB being scheduled for something else and PJ not being able to finish it with him, they in the end rerecorded with someone else instead of having someone take over the baton from BoBs started project?

As in the choice of producer was not for a "different feel than BoB" but someone who could work under PJs "do we really have to make a new album?" way of working.
     or none of ther above
Ya that theory no offense seems weak... Who doesn't have time for Pearl Jam but time for someone else? Highly doubtful
Who doesn't have the time time for the top-of-the-top of SNL? No one. That is why Eddie Murphy was in Ghostbusters.

Who doesn't have the time for Martin Scorsese? No one. That is why Robert DeNiro was in Gangs of New York.

Why do you have to have a favorite album of theirs, to name drop young male producers in Seattle?

Out of those Goodmanson is the most exciting to me, so its probably Lilavois because I know nothing hes been involved in and he was in the studio pictures with Ed.

    -Eric Lilavois: nothing yet
-Tucker Martine: Decemberists, My Morning Jacket, Jim James, Spoon, Mudhoney
-Matt Bayles: Mastodon, Minus the Bear. Has strong PJ-connection (worked on Yield, Binaural and solo records)
-Phil Ek: Fleet Foxes, Modest Mouse, the Shins, Band of Horses, Father John Misty
    -John Goodmanson: Sleater-Kinney

They all have some PNW or Seattle connection, and they are all relatively young.

Rather have a moody atmospheric sound than that... but yeah... I dug the sound of it (for that specific song atleast).

Looks like he's an engineer in the area (played guitar on Lightning Bolt, engineer credit on King Animal), so this basically means produced in house

Just hope it isn't muddy/slushy sounding like Riot Act.  Looking forward to hearing new stuff.  My personal hopes are for no spoken word songs, and that the songs are 3-minutes-plus.  As opposed to shorties like MFC or some of the Ed solo uke stuff.  Just my tastes, please don't kill me.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

Speculation that they recorded a lot of songs for this record is music to my ears. Hoping for 12+ tracks. Maybe some brooding instrumentals that help seague one track into the next, to help create a seemless whole.
I’d love a double album and I know there were rumours but can’t see it happening. Maybe they have enough to release a follow up in the very near future??

Hopefully the 3 side cut means more songs, but my "fear" is that its only 3-4 a side.

Im guessing that Dance of the Clairvoyants is a longer song, with a radio edit.  hence the single.

It's actually double LP with 3 sides + 1 etched. It's 11 songs, so it will be shorter than LP i guess
