Bloomberg's & Bernie's only function in this race is to alienate moderate voters. And to keep pushing 'the both sides are bad' narrative. This only benefits the GOP.
the problem with bernie's castro comments is you simply cannot, in today's reactive culture, say anything good about anyone bad because that turns into you thinking that person, who was bad, was all good, and you get destroyed for it. people can't take facts. it's all emotion and outrage. and it's intellectually destroying all discourse.
if only the MSM would take trumpers to task like they are doing to the democratic candidates, we might have a somewhat sane system right now.
I totally agree. Bernie's statement was misunderstood and twisted by the even more twisted media that exists today. What a mess!

this reminds me, John Oliver had a great bit about hitler the other night. I dont want to butcher it , so please do look it up. Whole show was great, India was highlighted....
edit. heres an AV CLUB article section with the piece....
There’s Modi’s association with a “hard-core paramilitary group” whose
leaders have praised Hitler’s whole “purity of blood” thing. As Oliver
counters, there’s really only one good thing you can say about Hitler,
and that’s that he killed Hitler. (There’s a graphic element to the joke
that Oliver would like very much if no one used out of context.)

Bernie tried to answer the question, said it would be on his website. Cuomo said it was still significantly less than the studies say will be needed. Bernie said “ba BA BA bap”.
he also told the guy asking the question to “trust me” that I’m different than trump when it comes to paying for his stuff. Trust me and believe me sound very similar
He said Ba ba ba bap to be able to finish what he was saying when Cuomo was interrupting.
No need to Chris Mathews it.
When did he say "trust me" ?
Before he went into the sheet he pulled out where he still didn’t answer the question. I guess I’ll check out the website later to see if it satisfies me.
The question was, what is the difference between what you promise and what Trump promised. And he was answering that (in a politican's way. But he was answering it)
Him pulling out the sheet - what to get ahead of the question he knew was coming from Cuomo about payment.
No he pulled it out in response to the question from the audience. The question is you haven’t said how you will pay, so, how will you pay.
Yes you are correct. The "I thought that question might show up" was to reference the guys question, I thought I heard difference tense.
The ba-ba-bap is still about Cuomo interrupting.
Yes it was in reply to cuomo who was trying to say that the estimates for cost were still 2X more than his sheet said he’d raise to pay. He gave cuomo the sheet and then didn’t want him to talk about it. I thought that was weird. As was the old man bababababap. Weird moment where he looked prepared to answer the question, I thought he was going to own the moment. He didn’t
But he did go into how to pay for it? What did you feel was left out? Him throwing out an excel document at a towm hall?
He said a modest increase in taxing Wall Street speculation. That is a lot of nothing. I’ll check the website.
sknce he knew it was coming I wanted him to spout some specifics and numbers.

Yeah. True.

Do you really follow Kaylah Paige and Cenk is a Union Buster on Twitter? Seriously? Or did you find these on your faceturd feed and thought you’d share because it’s illustrative of the groundswell of the bern? They’re about as believable as #queersagainstpete being a “political movement.” I’d digress into my thoughts about the bern, Cuba and burning 25 electoral votes in Florida but it’d be a waste of my time and effort.

and that is totally legit. his answer to Cooper was disastrous. and people should be very concerned about it. even if he knows it will never pass so he doesn't have to worry about the fiscal end of it, he still should have had a plan in the first place.
Are we not acknowledging that Sanders has been effusive about Cuba and Castro for years? That's why the questions come up. It's central to his ideology, not an isolated offhanded comment.
And I'm not one of these people that faints if a politician speaks well of socialist governments. I would argue vehemently against it, but it's not unreasonable to hold that position.
There's a big gap between praising their education system and praising Castro
Cuba's medical system is beyond reproach as well.
you can praise one thing about one person and it not be all-encompassing. just because harvey weinstein is a rapist doesn't mean I am pro-rape if I say he's a good movie producer.

A bit shitty tactical to not really make sure to stress the FIDEL CASTRO WAS SATAN part during an election though.
I mean who hasn't said Hitler building the autobahn was a good thing or said it was visually spot on for him picking that aesthetically pleasing white stripes color scheme? But you always remember to stress THAT HE WAS SATAN.

So, if you don’t use Twitter, how do you come across so much social media twitter posts and why do you share them? Do you trust them as reliable and viable, as coming from an actual twitter or are you just posting propaganda to spread the bern?

This should be true, but unfortunately, it isn’t the case these days. Too many people today seem to have an “all or none” mentality with that sort of thing. To them, it IS all-encompassing.
Look at Trump. If you say anything positive about something he does, or if there’s an aspect of his presidency that actually you like, a lot of people will call you racist or whatever other extreme insult you can call a Trump supporter. Even if your positive comment is inconsequential. Say, for example, someone on this board said that they liked his speech in India the other day. Some of the people around here would assume that person loves Trump and lump them in with Maga-hat wearers. That isn’t fair.

Name an inconsequential positive things one could say about Trumps presidency without it being a far fetched "Say, for example"-example like him having a good speech? Curious what it could be, hah.

Well I didn’t see the speech so I can’t speak to whether it was good or not. Typical of you to focus on that and ignore the point though. The point is that Hugh’s “all-encompassing” argument goes tenfold for Trump.

I can’t think of any myself. But to someone else, there’s probably a lot.
I think people are missing the point on the Sanders story.
1. It's very much in character for him to praise Castro. It's his ideology and not the first time. In a vacuum he is certainly free to do that. 2. There are many Cuban (or Venezuelan) immigrants and children of who will have a VERY negative reaction to an American politician praising Castro (or Chavez) for any reason. Many live in Florida. 3. These House *Democrats* from Florida and elsewhere came out swiftly with strongly worded rebukes because they know this is a HUGE issue for a large portion of their constituents. They themselves have seats to defend in November.
This is not a manufactured issue. If you know or run into a Cuban-American, ask them about Castro. I had 3 Cuban coworkers at my last job. Best of luck in explaining to them how they should apply some nuance and not blow a comment out of proportion. I would be very interested to hear how that goes.
