DewieCox you have hit the nail on the head. I think the last 4 have been poor. Colour and the shape was fab. That was 1997
I thought Wasting Light was their best in a long while and while they always managed to squeeze a few good tunes in, Concrete and Gold and Sonic Highways are 2 of the worst albums by big name bands I can remember.

In Your Honor was. And its Foo Fighters last supergreat album. Whatever people try to make Wasted Light into.

Nah, it pretty well sucks too. What a dumb concept for such a bland band.

And I don't mean to be unkind, but I see what's in your mind. And the stone you throw will turn back in its path One day you'll shatter like a wall of glass.

(it's great. At least was when it came out. Haven't listened to it in like 10 years)

Yeah. They are "MTV Rock" making arenas happy with songs everyone can sing along too.

It is what it is. Not like Dave was the brooding poet of Nirvana.

I've jumped off the Foo Fighters train along time ago.

I bet still good enough to ruin some decent melodic singing with faux metal screams at horribly inopportune moments.

Would people prefer no Pearl Jam albums the last 6 years or two 5/10 PJ albums?

Interesting question.  In theory more is better right?   We aren't in the band so we shouldn't really care about THEIR legacy.  So more music for us the better.    The downside would be they don't make great music because they are burned out on putting too much out.

So, my call is one 9/10 album versus 2 5/10 albums.

If the consensus was 5/10 on both, I would almost certainly like at least one better than most. So, yes. Gimme two.

Two 5/10 albums. That's basically what I'd consider Backspacer and Lightning Bolt to be anyway. But each has a song or two I love, and with the albums came tours and excitement. And even though I don't care for those two albums, a lot of other people love them. At least when they're putting out music, you can take it or leave it. When they're not putting out music, and not bothering with Deep magazine or holiday singles, there's not much to be excited about.

I’d rather have some music than none. Doubt they’ll ever put out better than an average PJ album but it’s nice if they feel the need to create, which has always interested me more than live shows just for the sake of it.

5/10 graded by the Pearl Jam board or Foo Fighters board?

So much disdain for the Foo Fighters... say what you want but I love them. Do I care for every single song or record? No. But I love loads of their stuff and they’re a blast live.

That being said I‘d rather have a new PJ record
