I've said it before and I'll say it again. There is NO global warming or climate change. It is all just a liberal socialist democrat plot to...
Raise your taxes Abort your babies Take away your guns Create more gov't Legalize gay marriage Legalize pot Open the borders Etc etc
I can't tell if this is a satire of a conservative commentator, or your own thoughts.
I'm pretty sure what BP said is 100% right on.
I would add to that list:
It's a liberal socialist plot to:
-Help Neil Young sell more records.
-Increase Greta Thunberg's chances of getting a part on "The Walking Dead"
-Jack up Chipotles stock value.
-Revitalize Barbara Streisand's career.
Damn commie freaks!
Brian, with all due respect, climate change themed albums will never sell well. His Monsanto album was just plain brutal. And I fucking love Neil Young - I still remember meeting his grumpy ass and loved every second of it.

Yeah, Monsanto Years isn't a favorite. But how fine that you got to meet Mr. Young!

Perhaps a good subtitle for this thread would be, "Why is global warming not the most important topic being discussed during the Democratic debates?"
This is unforgivable. If this keeps up, and we think a government run run by democrats is going to save our sorry asses, we could well be gravely mistaken. Out of 2 hours, less than 10 minutes was devoted to the most pressing issue of our time. Do you have any idea how hard it is for me not to believe this thought right now: "We are fucked"?

I'm sorry to say this, but I only believe in believing inasmuch as assuring that we take the actions that really don't make our lives any less rich by living more ecologically-friendly. As far as hope goes, my bucket is empty, and my only sympathy is for the animals that will be given back their rightful home in an obliterated state.

There is a lot of hope in the possibility that the earth will thrive with life once again when humans are either greatly reduced in numbers or gone all together. Barring a cataclysmic disaster, life could continue on earth for another 1.75 billion years or so.

I think the chances of there not being another extinction level asteroid impact to the earth in a lot less time than that is nil.

That could be, I really don't know what the chances are or aren't. A big enough asteroid could kill the planet. But there has been life on earth for at least 3.5 billion years so why would the chances of life continuing on for half that long be nil?

Extinction level is like what killed the dinosaurs. It doesn't mean it would kill every living organism. But it would kill off a massive majority of existing animals and plants and completely change the Earth's ecosystem - it's like starting from scratch.

Once again "climate change" (why are people afraid to call it global warming?) gets the short shrift again. Maybe the dems care a little more than the republicans, but obviously they don't really care all that much.
Bend over... we all know the routine.

Maybe... but when? Our institutions are very slow to change. And by then, it may be too late (if it isn't already).

That is true. We have 4 mainstream parties federally (there are other parties, but they poll really low)...we have only ever elected Conservatives and Liberals.

Brian, I understand how frustrating it is to see this topic underrepresented, however I don't think the amount of time spent discussing climate change is correlated to anything more than a candidate's perception of how much more electable he or she will become by discussing the topic (which is ultimately the goal of the debate - to make yourself more electable). I would rather that a candidate does everything he or she needs to get him or herself into office, and then begin the campaign to sell the States on a radically changed energy economy and pursuits of minimizing global warming immediately. If you don't get into office, your policies are irrelevant.

Good, logical thinking there, Ben. I hope that does happen!
