"Star"?  Never even heard of the guy.  Must be a TV thing.  Looks like a clown.

Cool article. Not a Coldplay fan by any means but I respect their choice by not touring. Cool numbers of carbon impact in the article too. Good quick read.

Greta labled "brat" by Brazil's far right president Jair Bolsonaro.

Yeah, sure, I can see that.  I can see why Bolsonaro would say, "I'm a president and I don't care if you don't like it that my policies cause the death of indigenous people, YOU LITTLE BRAT!"

I’m not really comparing the two of them. I just think it’s strange that she got the same award that he did four years ago. She’s being honored for her activism I guess, so what were they honoring him for? His Nazi-like campaign?

I don't think it's really a "best of" type of adulation. it's more of a "most influential/most talked about" type of thing. At least that's how I thought of it.

I’m not trying to sound “clever.” I just think it’s funny that people that celebrated Trump getting this are pissed that she’s getting it. And people who celebrate her getting it were probably pissed when Trump did.

You get pretty emotional over this girl and it’s a little sad. I remember a few months ago I was being critical of some politician that was insulting her by saying something along the lines of “I don’t know why someone would be insulting a teenager with Aspergers.” Oh boy did you get triggered...complaining about how I shouldn’t mention her Aspergers. That’s despite her Twitter bio literally saying she’s a “16 year are old climate and environmental activist with Aspergers.” God almighty.

Edit: Dude I apologize. There's no need for me to be all "Oh you're emotional and triggered blah blah blah..." No need for it. Someone you're a fan of got a recognition and you're happy about it, and I don't need to be crashing your thread like a dick with pictures of Trump. That's lame of me. @Spiritual_Chaos

Persons of the Year throughout time include Stalin, Hitler, Nixon. Person of the Year is much more about how major of a topic the person was within the calendar year, rather than how big their heart is. Trump deserved to be the Person of the Year; as a narcissist, a criminal, a loose-lipped idiot, and the POTUS, his podiums were unprecedentedly large and he managed to capture the attention of the planet. If his mouth was smaller and his brain was larger, this would've been harder to attain.
Thunberg also deserved to be the Person of the Year, but while Trump's repugnant character and exploitation of unearned positions got him onto the cover page, Thunberg took the noble approach of demonstrating selflessness and care for our future.

You are correct - Time's Person of the Year is definitely not an award, more of an acknowledgement

    For example :

Adolf Hitler Man of the Year 1938 by Magazine Time

Fair enough. So it’s an acknowledgment of newsworthy people even if it’s negative. So it doesn’t really seem like a recognition that gets celebrated much. Unless you love the recipient I guess.

Greta, the youngest of my heroes to date.  I list her among my other heroes: Greta, Wendell Berry, Temple Grandin, Captain Paul Watson, Terry Tempest Williams, Daniel Suelo, Richard Manning, and, of course, Bob Ross.

Oh wait a minute... I meant Henry Rollins, of course!
