I personally think if Biden is the nominee his VP will have to be a woman. I’d predict Harris at this point. But lots of time.

i think Mayor Pete could be a great VP for just about anyone....but I don’t see him being picked unless someone like Warren or Harris wins the nomination. And even then...at this point I doubt it.

but lots of time and things change.

I think any male will have to select a woman.
  • Why?
I'm all for the P or VP being the right person, regardless of gender...but why would a male P need to choose a female running mate?

I m all about picking the best candidate and right now I don’t see a woman as the best candidate for vp.  Let’s not pick a woman just to pick a woman.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

If they didn't,  they would endure a substantial amount of criticism from the media and the progressive left.  After the record number of women elected,  there will be an expectation.  The downside to not,  and the criticism,  simply isn't worth it,  particularly when the bench of capable women is so deep.

    Mayor Pete on free college...

Americans who have a college degree earn more than Americans who don’t. As a progressive, I have a hard time getting my head around the idea of a majority who earn less because they didn’t go to college subsidizing a minority who earn more because they did.

I might be all in on this guy...
I kind of see his point but then how do we make it more affordable for people to go to college so more people can be better off?

You see, other than receiving some support from my folks the first couple years, my college years were never subsidized by the public- all totaled about 7 years, two degrees, a teaching credential in three states, one certificate in California and about 220 college credits.  If I were young and starting today, no way could I ever afford to do that, let alone a simple two year AA or 4 your degree.

And what happens if we don't have enough health care practitioners because not enough people could afford to go to med school?  Or environmental lawyers?  Or alternative energy engineers?  Etc.
We do not need more lawyers of any kind
I know there's got to be a good lawyer job couched in what you say somewhere, Cincy, haha!

But seriously, it depends on what you mean.  Sure there are scummy lawyers.  But there are lawyers who charge little or work pro bono for just causes and we can never have too much justice.  I've known a number of good lawyers.  I have friends and one relative who are lawyers and they are fine, fine people.  They do good work.  We can never have too much good work.
Lawyers are easily one of the top 5 awful professions...a law licence give them a licence to print money.

    Along with:

    Politician
Insurance (insurance agents/brokers, have no soul...hell anyone in the insurance industry has no soul).
    Ministers
and most CEO's of companies that did not found the company...
and an honourable mention most bankers

Hi, resident insurance industry ee here. You have no idea what your talking about. As usual.

I am very interested in seeing Pete and Biden debate or converse with eachother. There is something about them together that would be interesting to listen to. Would rather see them have an hour long podcast talk together than debating eachother though.
They occupy the same ideological lane.  It's funny that you think Biden is half Republican and Pete is not.
Fuck. I meant Bernie and Pete. The master and the apprentice.

I dont care about Biden. He was funny in the debate with Paul Ryan though.

Biden will likely select a female minority as VP... i would be shocked if he didn't... i would be shocked if the dem ticket doesnt have a minority and/or female on the ticket.... the DNC knows Tim Kaine was a mistake as VP and a person of color could have helped energize that base to get to the polls

Yup. I hear the “select the best person” crowd...but in politics the best person helps win an election. A female P or VP is needed at this time. If not, if the Dems throw up 2 white guys (1 being older than some dirt), they will lose some of their messaging (generally the part I agree with the most) and will lose energy and voters.

I’d like him to transform his speech pattern. Gives me a headache. If the Dems lose again, it will be Bernie’s (and the 30-40% trump base) that are to blame for 8 years of trump

I like Bernie but I feel like he was a good candidate for the 2016 cycle compared to the 2020 cycle. I’m not an ageist but he coming off kind of old and ornery this time around. I also think he’s over promising on policies. I don’t know.
I like Biden but will wait to see him over the next couple weeks. I feel he def has to pick a woman or minority vp so I don’t know if Pete or Beto will work.

Biden is going to run away with the nomination...and he should.  The only goal the Democrats should have is impeachment hearings and getting the best candidate nominated to beat Trump and that is Biden...other than his hair sniffing thing...I doubt he has left many opening for Trump...

And what's up with all the support for a democratic controlled congress that hesitates to hold impeachment hearings when it seems like he has broken the law and continues to so?  Seems like the Congress is afraid to do their job as well...

I’m sure the base will be fired up about Biden having a woman subordinate as his pick.  Just what they have been waiting for.

I hope she she keeps her hair cropped short ...

The running mate has never been about “best person.”  When everyone was a white male, it was about age, a different geographic region, or a different part of the political spectrum (eg, moderate vs hard-right).  Now that the offices are not thought of as only for white men, there are other factors in “how will the running-mate help in the election.”

I guess I have to give some more thought to these statements that one of the ticket candidates needs to be a minority/woman.  I am all for that being part of the option for voters but I just feel like Trump already has the same minorities/women voting for him that he would have regardless of who opposes him in 2020.  For my thought process, I imagine what person belonging to either of those categories & who voted for an obvious bigot and misogynist in 2016 has any inclination to do anything else with their vote.  He has done nothing since taking the office to make people he things any more of women or minorities in the US...I would support the opposite position.  Everyone who this current President stomps on should be motivated to vote against him.

Doesn't make any difference what I think -- how people poll is what they will end up following, I am sure.  My position that this upcoming election is set up as Good vs. Evil is likely not shared by enough people for this to be their platform.
